The speed issue is that you are running out of steam on the top end. I think you are going as fast as you will go without more mods to make some really good top end power. At speed you run into aerodynamic/weight issues. I think most of the guys you hear about going so fast have a lot of mods and are making good power. I have hit 150mph, but I make over 300hp.
