Today on my way home from military pt i see a car in my rear view.. it looks like the 2006 Eclispe.. I'm like nah.. its probably a new Galant. So I slow down and switch lanes so it can pass me.. and what is it? The new Eclipse GT.. The thing was fucking SWHEET.. I almost nutted when I heard the exhaust. And this morning for some odd reason i was telling myself to bring my camera, but I never did. I'm really pissed I did'nt because it was really cool to see this on the streets.. To bad some old fucker was driving it to the dealership because he wasn't really getting on it. The thing was fucking nice! Totally different to see it in person, you respect it a little bit more. I'm so pissed with myself though.. O'well

Yea, I hope it's better in person, cuz the pictures looked like shit on a stick. Anything that resembles a 3g needs to be shipped to Antarctica and blown up.

it does look pretty awesome in person. haha i guess i should upload my pics from the car show we had here last month... they had a sexy blue one. i think it has a lot of potential body-wise as well. just needs the right kit

it's kinda like when you look at a 95-96 eclipse before ever seeing a 97+ or one with a kit.

It's pretty nice.. The one I saw was orange, and I really dont like the orange.. But I dont know.. Just seeing it in person and hearing that baby purr and mixed in with traffic, it was unique. If someone gave me one I would drive it for sure just not on a daily basis.. lol.. But yea, views will change after they hit the road. 2G is still the best tho.. RepresenT!!!!! 2G Powaa!

We all saw it here in SoCal when Mitsu hosted MOD 05 event. We got to sit in it and check out all the controls, however they also had the concept eclipse right next to it, so it made the actual 06 eclipse look like crap.

Funny you should see one. I got to drive one today. It was a GT got a 3.8 in it. Had the sport shift auto. And a Rockfordfosgate sub in the back. Cool seats. It is a orange color. I think it has 17's on. I didn't have my camera with me either. I will see if I can get some pic's monday. But my boss does not whant any of the installers to now it they. It was funny he brought it in to the shop and drove it by my lift whit out stoping. Drop the dam slpash cover and was like I now you going to stop right. He just drove it out of the shop and acros the street to the other shop and put it the class room. But He did let my drive it. It fast for what it is still would like to see a turbo on it . I wish thay would put the bulge back on. It's funny to look over that flat hood. To let you all know the company I work for procees cars for mazda ,suzki, ford ,chevy, and now mitsubishi. whating for are fisrt shippment of EVO's. Any way if any body lives in Jacksonville FL and looking for a job we have some opening.

Internal competition with their EVO model. I honestly don't understand putting the EVO powertrain and suspension in a 4 door mommy mobile. They should have kept the Eclipse as their sports car and left the power where it belongs.

Could'nt agree with you more brother. I would have really loved to see the Eclipse highly respected again as an import sports car.

at first i didnt really like the 06 eclipse but now i do think it looks ok (havent seen 1 in person) but for me, i loved the concept of the 05 'stang but now I HATE THEM .. i see them ALL day long with old asses driving them, i am still a fan of the 94-98 stang gt's but other than that, i am not a fan but anyways, i know the eclipse has 2 different motors in the new ones or whatever, anyone know retail on them? i think 1 is like 20g's or so, not that bad for a 0 miles car i suppose ... but still id rather have a 97 vr4 3000gt ... which may be my next ride...i think we will get use to the new eclipse when we see them more often and someone modifies 1 somewhat ... later doods

cool car, but can't be taken seriously with a 6 cylinder 3.8L FWD. It should have been a RWD... waht is Mitsubishi thinking. Although the price is competitive!

07' seems like it's going to be THE year for cars. I personally can't wait to see the new gt-r and which motor they will be putting in it. New evo and supra are supposed to be out then, but who knows.

well, i know that the new supra will no longer be turbo, TRD decided to go with a V8 instead.. , but the body is suppose to be very nice. We'll see what happens.

yeah, but didnt they have the evo out in japan with the 4g63 engine the same time the eclipses started to come out here in the states? If anything, the evo hasnt taken anything from the eclipse. i agree with everyone tho about the 4 door thing. they should have kept the eclipse from the 2g and upped up the power and cosmetics like they are the evo IX from the VIII now.

Hell, it says in the owners manual our cars are like 3,8xx lbs. But the evo has been around for a long time. It has nothing to do with eclipse guys being older. The eclipse was Mitsu's small American sports car, while Japan had the FTO. They changed the design to that horrid 3g, which is still our small sports car(unforunately), and later brought the evo over to combat with Subaru. The evo, though it is four door, will out perform the 2g eclipse in just about every aspect even if they had the same power. And it's a good looking four door. But I'd still rather have my 2g.

We didnt need the evo in order to compete with the sti, if they would have put more thought into another generation of the eclipse that was more powerful it very well could have competed. The evo is just new technology so of course its better. I dont know, I like the evo, but we were deffintley robbed. I agree the evo is a sharp looking car, I just cant cope with the Eclipse fading away. I just need to find a good DSM meet to goto were the Eclipse is looked greatly upon.

You aren't thinking of the GVWR, are you? The GVWR is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, which is the maximum weight of the car, fully loaded with 4 (HAHAHA) people and their shit, as well as all fluids. In other words, the GVWR is the maximum curb weight of the car.

I saw it at the dealership this saturday, they had one GS and one GT. They look better in person than in pics imo as well. Definitely better looking than the 3g and borrowed a lot from the 2g. With 130,000 miles on my 2g, the temptation for a new car was there...but at 26 grand for the GT they had there its still a bit too much for me, although that was with the premium sound package and wasn't stick, so Im guesing that would knock off a grand or two.

Example- Chevelle, possibly the Staple car of the muscle car era. even true muscle heads would never restore the 4door chevelle. A lot of people dont realize they even made it in a 4dr.

This is all just my opinion, so nobody get there panties in a bunch.

I understand. The 2g is a great looking car, I know I have one. That 30k is not just for 276hp, it pays for the great handling and great braking that comes along with the car. Ive owned an eclipse for more years than a few of you have driven so dont try to explain the potential. The car will never have the potential that the Evo will have without spending a fortune so lets not bring up that topic. Let me know how when you bring that 2g of yours to 700+whp and its still daily driven then we can talk. Some people actually think the Evo looks good just as some people on this board think their eclipse with those nasty and hideous body kits looks good. To each his own but I have yet seen, raced, or ran on the track a 2G that could keep up with my mommy mobile.

BANME! the 30k spent is not just for the hp. Its for the performance and overall feel for the car. You can have a 700 whp 2g. But it wont even be steetable or practicle. With that much hp and FWD 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will b completely usless. The evo is a very strong performer and practicle for the price.

Trust me when I say I would never give up my 2g for an evo but that's just because I love my car. But how many 2g race cars do you see? And I'm not just talking drag cars either. The evo is a world wide popular sports car, and with good reason. Those cars are amazing considering everything you get with them right out of the box. Sure you could spend $30,000+ on a 2g and make it fast as hell. But minimal mods on an evo will be right there with you. Maybe not in hp, but in everything else. I was reading in super street or sport compact car about how that evo broke a track record by like 6 seconds. This is like a 2 minute course, so to win by that much is unbelievable. I don't think a 2g will ever do that. But hey, maybe somebody will prove me wrong

as for the new eclipse, i saw one about a week ago. looked like ass in pictures, looked like ass at the auto show, but guess what? it looked like ass in person too! I wish they would have stuck with the 2g and just did minor things to it like the transition from 95-96 to 97-99. i hate that everytime i tell someone i have an eclipse, i have to explain its not the ultra gay 3g, its the sleak sexy 2g... it gets old.
