Ball joint presses are wondrous tools. It's a little unpractical to be buying a nice kit for a one time job. Maybe you can rent one, or maybe one of those cheap harbor freight ones would be worth buying for a once or twice job.

You don't have to remove the control arm using one of these, but you do need an impact gun.
