The hood was used for a year or so. It has s few cracks in the gel coat and there is a chip on the edge. $150 is the asking price. Local pick up only. Email me if you have any questions or want to see pics.

My e-mail:
I tired to put it on, but the bolts kept free spinning ( I didnt use the impact gun, just a crecent wrench) when I tried to take them out they wouldnt back off, the hinge area on the drivers started cracked and eventually a piece came off to reveal some fresh wood and a really bad repair job, the other side took more work to finally get it to come off, but after 2 hours I did (without much damage to the fiberglass/bondo patch.

so... what am I supposed to do with this thing? Cracks in the gel coat and scratches I can live with, this is I cant.

Thom

His reply

I never repaired anything. that is how i got it a year ago. I never cracked the hood. I also had three people help me put it on so nothing would happen to it, and two people helped me take it off.

I also let you look at the hood before you gave me money. I also offered to help put it on before you gave me money. I am not rresponsible for anything you did after that.

Mike

pics imo, that sucks though. Did he really offer to help you put it on though? Maybe he really didn't know. I know if I was going to sell something bad I wouldn't stick around to see the outcome.Sounds like it might be a case of murphys law or dsm law so to speak "where theres a problem theres an equal and opposite problem". Give me some pics so I know what the dealio is.

i live in new castle. I can meet you in newark. the hood has a couple of cracks in the gel coat. These pictures were taken with my phone so they aren't the greatest but i will get better pics in a day or two.

Ok just to set the record straight:

I met Thom, showed him both sides of the hood, he stated that it was okay. My brother and I offer to help him install it on his car. He went to his shed and came back and stated that he did not have his impact gun at the time. And that he would put it on later. I told him that it was probably better to use a ratchet. At this point, he said okay, here's your money. When I left the hood was in working order with no major cracks or damages, in the same condition that I purchased the hood a year ago. And if it was installed properly with hand tools and with the correct amount of help. I don't believe he would have had a problem.

I believe Thom, used his impact gun, and tried to install the hood by himself. This would explain the crack across the top of the hood, and the impact gun would rip the mounting bolts out. I cannot be held responsible for damages that he caused. The hood was sold as is! At no time did I rushed him to make up his mind to purchase the hood. He examined both sides of the hood and stated that it was okay.
Mike

I never saw the bottom of the hood till after he left, I focused on what he said was wrong with the hood, I was giving him the benefit of the doubt on the rest since he was so forthcoming on the clear coat.

Impact gun was not used, still cant find it. Hell not even a ratchet was used, I had to bust out my old cresent wrenches. I think 2 people, in addition to myself, is adequet to install a carbon fiber hood; oh thats right THIS IS A FIBERGLASS HOOD, with a carbon fiber layer.

There is no crack in the top of the hood this pic:

is showing the bad vynil burn in on the clear coat, thats not a crack, thats just the angle of the hood, guilty conscience perhaps?

You are a fraud and tomorrow I contact the new castle county police, I work for chrysler and they pay for my legal fees, so it'll be my pleasure to drag this out in court until it long surpasses the original fee of the hood since you are so adament about not returning my money even though I contacted you the same day the hood was bought.

I have the mails you sent me as well, quick camera phone snaps of the "only problem areas of the hood" aka the top of the hood, nothing of the bottom.

Also, to set the record straight, when I said "it looks fine to me" these are the pix I saw:

now the hood isnt perfect but from THOSE pix, it looks aight, doenst look like someone mounted the hinge support with fresh cut wood and liquid nails then bondo'ed the covers back on does it?

Thats not very nice. You inspected the hood on delivery. I don't see how blame could be placed when you physically touched and looked at the hood when you purchased it. Its buyers responsibility to inspect and verify before cash is handed over. Just like buying a used car on a lot or from a private person, You get a mechanic to inspect it before the hood is purchased. Bad luck you didnt notice the damage, but I don't think you should be placing blame where its not due.

i can see both sides. this is also like buying a house with a bad foundation. There are laws that state you must tell the buyer of any problems known about the house, even in the contract. He had made a shady repair and not told Thom. if you can inspect the hood and not see the shady repair you would still not know any different. kind like me taking a body panel with a dent in it and bondoing it up and painting it so i can sell it to you as perfect. What happens when the bondo cracks and you find 10lbs bondo?

This should not be made a pissing match here, all respect to both parties. lets not continue this thread since everyone can read the predicament and not make the mods lock it to show our lackof self control.

Good luck to both of you at hashing this out.

Its buyers responsibility to inspect and verify before cash is handed over. Just like buying a used car on a lot or from a private person, You get a mechanic to inspect it before the hood is purchased. Bad luck you didnt notice the damage, but I don't think you should be placing blame where its not due. $0.02

Who said I physically inspected it? I looked at the top of the hood where he was pointing. While I agree it is buyers responsibility to look at it before its bought, its also the sellers responsibility to disclose all info to the buyer. ANd with used cars, on a lot at least, buyers are protected with the lemon law, but we're going off point here.

I dunno why you suddenly have a bug up your ass about me djtrickee, prolly over the pushin420a thread, but the police have been contacted already and if they say Im at fault so be it.

Police can't really do a thing except be a neutral third party in this case. Most likely they will tell the seller to give you a refund, seler says no, and police say OK and leave.

Only other option is file a complaint with the AG or take him to SC Court.
