It is the same motor. beside the Talon/Eclipse, also look into Avenger/Stratuses.
As far as tranny goes, I would prefer to salvage the motor from the same tranny donor. Try to keep the years the same too ie: 95-96, and 97-99. There are some known sensor differences, hence stick with your year.

I think you'd be better off just paying a shop to rebuild the existing engine or source a rebuilt engine. Shipping a used engine up to Canada and then paying someone to install it won't be cheap (plus you get no guarantee).

Thanks guys for the help... Well, the mechanic told me it was something wrong with the pistons and... EVERYTHING ELSE.hahahahah. Safe to say he said i needed a whole new engine.. Ummmm.. any ideas on how much a complete rebuild will cost me.. I mean just to get the engine back to factory standards????
My gf's bf told me this forum was great.. thanks for the help.. and any more suggestions would be appreciated...

Back to factory standards..
I would estimate around 1300 on parts (if you are planning to go to reuse parts here and there, it will be cheaper). Labor should be no more than another grand. Why not take the opportunity to upgrade the internals, unless you are planning to sell the vehicle.
post this in the general forum. Got anymore questions...ASK!
