#20294, "Thinking about selling my 2.4L"

I have a 96 Eclipse Spyder n/t. I'm thinking about selling the 2.4 Liter and swapping a 2.0L turbo. It has about 92,000 miles on it. How much should I expect to get out of this motor, and does anyone know if the 2.0 swap is easy?

Why would you do that? I would imagine it wouldnt be too hard since it is a 4G64 and faces the same way as 4G63. But you have SOHC , so why not get a DOHC 4G63 head and swap that on? You would have .4L more displacement than 4G63 2.0L, and Ive never heard of a 4G64 crankwalking.Getting a turbo kit would be the only issue, but maybe you can bolt on the 4G63 manifold and such, not sure on this , there is a website on this though if I can remember clearly.

The head bolts on. Any exhaust mani for a 4g63 will work (duhh the mani is bolted to the head) There is info about this all over any 4g63 related forum.

I have been planning to do that actually. I already have a 4g63 head, and intake manifold. I was just thinking it would be easier to just sell the 2.4 and drop in a 2.0T. I would still like to know what I would expect out of the 2.4 if I was to sell it.

Well seeing how there are few 2.4L spyders rolling around, I will assume the only ones interested are teh galant or NT Spyder people.

As far as swaps are concern, you will probably be the first to do it.
Not really sure if it is cost effective or not. Might just be cheaper to turbo the thing.

Yeah, you're out of your mind if you sell your 2.4 for a 2.0...look at how many guys on here are paying thousands to get a 2.4l block installed into their 2gnt and ditching the 2.0l.

Research putting the head and turbo from a 4g63 onto your 4g64 block. Much better idea IMO

all you need to do is get a 4g63 head, take your crank and block, but forged rods... you could use stock 4g63 pistons and BAM youve got a 4g63 turbo STROKER.... 4g63 strokers are so nice because the extra torque helps with lag and low end... go for it

**EDIT** there are a few other things you have to do as well.. small things like coolant passages but you should be sure with the 4g63 guys.. they would know best.
