Glass-Filled PTFE Intake Manifold Spacers -Located in Boston, MA-
These spacers are made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE also known as Teflon(c)) with integrated glass fibers. PTFE has an incredibly low coefficient of thermal conductivity. The result is a superior heat barrier to isolate the upper intake manifold section from high engine temperatures.
You may have seen polyethylene spacers in the past, but they aren't quite like these. PTFE resists conduction of heat better than most any other material. Unfortunately, PTFE is also dimensionally unstable, and subject to "creep" or "cold flow." In layman's terms, a standard PTFE spacer will eventually allow the intake manifold bolts to loose tension, creating a leak. SymTech Glass-filled PTFE spacers were designed specifically to prevent this, while creating an unprecendented barrier to heat.
These particular spacers offer the following features:
PTFE Spacers are made of 75% PTFE, with 25% glass-fill. They are extremely resistant to temperature transmission, water absorption, oil/chemicals, and abrasion. The material is also workable, meaning the spacers can be ported to match porter intake manifolds. Furthermore, it is self-sealing: no additional gaskets needed!
No Additional Hardware Needed Each spacer comes with bracket spacers to accommodate the greater distance between manifold sections. Longer bolts are not necessary; although stainless bolts (which offer lower heat conduction properties than standard steel) are available for slightly more.
Tight Tolerances The spacer design was created in AutoCAD to incredibly tight tolerances of less than 0.0015”. Spacers are precision cut using waterjet technology to 0.001” accuracy or more.
