yeah but i'm not sure exactly what it was. I was in no mood to guess and test every wire, so I re-soldered the ground wire (brown) closer to the ecu and farther form the black, then used butt-crimp connectors over the stupid connectors that come with the kit for the orange and pink wires. I was gonna solder, but I really have had good luck with the butt-crimps, and I think the hold is better in case the wire gets tugged.
My fuel pump is whining a little bit so i'll have to take it by you two when I get back from LDAC just to make sure its not the "hybrid whine".
Thanks to everyone here for helping me out--it was a nightmare of a swap but it all ended up alright in the end, but def. would have been much worse w/o 2gnt..
