They aren 100% worthless. It will stop a theif who is new to the, "jacking the rims of people who work their ass off while your too lazy to get a job to pay, for them game." But any experienced person who has stolen their fare share of rims are known to circumvant the wheel lock security, via getting a key replica, or using other advanced means. It is the same way with those steering wheel locks; it will stop a theif who is not familiar with them, but the professionals carry hydrogen (I think it is the chemical the immidiately freezes solid objects), then allows them to literrally break it.

The point is that one precaution is normally not enough. Wheel locks, an alarm with the right sensors, well-lit parking areas, and good luck are a good combo. It is not a 100% system (unless you park in Fort Nox), but the more you have the better in shape you are. Hell, even my alarm, proximity sensor, pager, shock sensor, pain generator, somewhat safe area college area, and fuel pump kill switch is no protection against a theif who really wants my car and gets a tow-truck.
