here's the story

He was telling me that he is a part owner of gottude.com, seemed like the company was going to blow off and make new products and make alot of money of it, so I was 18 and 19 now, I don't go to school and not sure what to do with my life, so I'm thinking I will invest into the company and I write a check for $9,100 and cash for $900 and also got a welding machine for $1500, then couple months later I see bill with new watchs, leather jackets, like 5 pair of new shoes and traving everywhere like cali, texas, las vages and many more places, so 3 months ago, I tell him hey bill I need my money back since I'm buying a house in florida and I live in rhode island right now and need a down payment and I also told him I'm quiting my other job since I'm buying a house in florida and I also told him that I was putting a 2 month notice to my landlord that I was moving and he says that's great good for you and no problem I'll have the money. So now two months later I quit a good paying job, lost my apartment to another renter and I'm about to use a deposit that I left on a house thinking that I still have my $10,000 and now I have nothing, I mean he knows have hard my life is, I don't have a father and I have a mother but she is crazy and get's $600 a month from the goverment by knowing this he still spent all my money. So I came back from florida thinking I'll go pick my money from bill, but he doesn't answer my calls and said he lost his cell phone and when I went to his house, he was to tired to talk to me, so when I had a chance to talk to him he, he said he has the money in a cd in the bank and it takes a couple days to take it out (first off, why would you have money in a cd if I told you I'm using my money for a down payment on a house) that was lie #1 it wasn't in a cd and you could get the money on the same day. And he said he lost his cell phone and I saw him with his cell phone on him, and I asked him so you found your cell and he said no it's my mothers (lie #2 but I asked his grandmother and she said he didn't lose his cell phone and always has it on him). So a week later I came by his house and asked him again about the money in the cd and he said he is still trying to get the money out lie#3 and said "hey nick you don't really think I will screw you" (lie #4)so I'm worried now and told his grandmother and I left a note at his house that it's my money and I need my money back, so he e-mails me and said the money was spent on gottude.com and he will have a check from a friend for $5,000 for me and said it will take 2 weeks (lie #5), it's been 3 weeks and no check but I didn't sign any papers and plus I put money in to make money not to pay off all of gottude bills.

I mean there is now why, he spent the money on gottude, it seems like he spent $10,000 on himself buying stuff and traving and fucking up my life and had no right to spend my money, I workd 70 hours a week to save all that money.

guys don't trust this guy he seems like a great guy but he is not and don't give him any stuff or money.

guys what should I do, I'm going to a lawyer this week.

much of a financial failure GotTude was. Since I got
you into it, though, I will make good on your
investment. If you give me two weeks or so, I can have
half of it back to you. I'm borrowing from another
friend to do this, as I also lost my shirt in the
deal.

My apologies, just that EVERYTHING in my life has been
going like a train wreck since November. I will make
good on what you gave me, though, even if I hafta
drive to Florida myself to deliver it to you.

and this is what I wrote back to him

"Bill this very hurts what your saying to me, well I can't move to florida till I get the money and now I have to find another apartment since I told them I was moving in 2 months and the apartmnet was rented to someone else. I lost a deposit on house now since you don't have my money, since the company wants 30% down payment because of my mom's credit, this means I'll be here till I get most of my money from you, give me a list of what you spent the money on and how much on each item, I just don't see it going into GotTude and nothing came from it. I spoke with a lawyer today, from this day since you say will have 5,000 of it in two weeks. So this month on the 16th I want 5,000, I will wait two weeks for that if not I will go back to the lawyer so I'll call the lawyer tomorrow and let him know what's going on now. And how long will it take to get the other half?

And how could you look into my face say "nick you don't think I will screw you" and then I leave driving to florida looking at a houses thinking I will have my $10,000 when I get home.

Bill I can't believe this, I feel like killing myseft for being stupid and trusting you, as bad as my life is, that money was going to give me a chance to buy a house, I mean I don't have a education, my mother gets only 600 a month and I pay most of the bills here, it's hard and your making it harder and you had no right to spend my money.

like I really don't understand bill, like a week ago he pm and tells me to take this post off since he is working on getting the money, so I pm him back, and just tell him, bill stop with the lies, if you were really trying to get the money then.
1. you would answer my phone calls
2. e-mail me back
3. stop ignoring me
4. you would keep me updated on what's going on
and I just said I thought we were friends and you did this to me.

So since then he still didn't call, e-mail me or pm, I just can't believe him.

OMG. I can't believe he would even screw over his own friend like that. When you run your own business, there is NO way to lose 10k. All you lose is your own time, but your labor is really free. Even if you end up losing some money on parts, I can't see it adding up to 10k. I used to sell a bunch of stuff, and there were cases where I had to replace things out of my own pocket. But I was nowhere near losing money. Good luck with your case. I would talk to your lawyer asap.

It sux player but this is the reason: 1. You don't ever do business with friends and family. 2. You never make an investment without documentation and specific details(How long, how much, what risk, etc). 3. You never go all in with all you got.

In my years in business I have seen it all. And it sucks when the ones with less knowledge get screwed but it happens. There are exeptions to the rules but in the end what's lost is more valuable to some than the money involved...

also he told me he had like 60k in his bank account but he doesn't want to take any money out of there because he is saving the money, he said he might need it sometime in the future.

Bill you should take the money out of your account and pay me back since you did steal my money.
