It's more than likely the bushings and such where the shifter pivots on, not the ones that actually go on the mount. I had the same problem, just figure some way to get the gaps closed where the shifter itself meets the bottom piece. Just take off your center console and you will be able to see what it is by wiggling it around a bit. You'll see what I mean when you do it. Hope that helps some.
