Ok before you go saying "Use the Search function or look at what GSGoinFast has posted", I am not looking for those options.

Ive been scanning the forums for about 2 years and I read all the VFAQ's and "Build your own kit for under $1000" guides. I know what they all say. But here is my dilema...

Any guide written only says either "Here is how to install your $3,000 turbo kit from HRC" or "Here is a guide to building a kit where you might as well melt down your own steel because you gotta fabricate everything"

I have yet to see a guide where someone goes out....makes out a list of EVERYTHING you need, then includes a price and link or location from where they got it. I wanna see a list of parts (yes including each and every one of those little oil line kit parts from home depot). With NOTHING being fabricated except say..the downpipe.

The list should go something like this:

Turbo Section
1) T3/T4 T04E - Ebay store - www.ebay.com/uberturbos_or_something - $189 (shipping inlcuded)

2) 420A custom Manifold with T3/T4 flange- Ebay store - www.ebay.com/custom_manis_or_something - $235 (shipping included)

3)Wastegate - etc. etc.

Oil Section
1) so and so feet of braided oil line - Home Depot - $8

2) 3/8" NPT nipple - Home Depot - $1

3) 3/8" NPT Tee - Home Depot - $1

4) Etc., etc, etc



Total should not exceed $1500 for EVERYTHING including gaskets.


GSGoinFast's write up is great, dont get me wrong.....but not everyone has the resources to fabricate their own stuff. And not everyone can find that "Cheap, used, perfect condition turbo" on ebay. I'd gladly pay $100 more for a manifold that already done and another $100 for a brand new turbo right now. And half of the websites he linked do not show anything. (again not bashing him)

I know it would be time consuming but if I get some time here, maybe i will make out a list.

Its sorta like on another forum i go to, a computer forum. Some newb will come in and say hey i want a gaming rig with new parts for $1000. Then a member will post a good list of great parts for under that price.

You dick! You basically come in here and DEMAND that we do ALL the work for you? If you can't work this out yourself, you shouldn't do it at all, because news-fucking-flash, you WILL have to fabricate things, you WILL need a lot of time, and you can't use a computer forum analogy for this because computers are pretty simple in comparison to a car. They all pop together with a few small screws, with no welding involved, and the parts are ridiculously easy to find.

It is actually easier then ever right now to put together a turbo kit for this car. Look only a little further down the page and BAM there is your T3 flanged turbo manifold with external wastegate flange, on eGay for cheap. Look in the honda-tech vendor forum and BAM there is tons of T3/T4 turbos and Tial 38mms there for sale for cheap, BOVs too. Look a little harder and BAM you can get a used Star downpipe on here, or better yet make your own 3" dp. Look on honda-tech again and BAM you found your SS braided oil send and return lines. GSGoinFast's guide tells you EXACTLY what fittings to get and where to get them, I will not repeat him. Charge pipes are also pretty easy, but you are going to make those yourself because you can't buy them at all for our car pre-made, especially for a custom setup.

This isn't anything but lazy! Like hell you have read on here for two years, you still don't know shit! You should KNOW by now how this is going to go, and you need to search a LOT more. I could list how my turbo kit has gone together, and exactly where I got everything from, but my fabricators are local to me and I have spent a lot more then $1500.

word. no one in here makes lists because each part is usually bought used off an individual person. you will find everything u need on ebay and the sale/wanted section of this forumn. honestly, u been scanning the forumn for 2 years and still have no idea where to get ur parts from? so u don't want to fabricate anything but u want a custom kit? and you don't want to pay anything over $1500? good luck. ur best bet would be to look for a used turbokit off a 2gnt member.

I never said I dont know what parts to buy or where to get them...cause i do, in fact i have read the instructions on how many times and have a list of my own. I guess you guys sorta got the wrong idea of what I was tryin to say.

Say someone comes in here lookin to put together a kit. Yes of course they could spend hours using the search button and go over GSGoinFast's post a million times.

BUT, a person on a budget cant just rely on "Garret T3 turbo from ebay", "2G sidemount free from friend", and "Clamps, hoses, and other hardware from Home Depot"

I'm not sayin nothing will be fabricated or welded...I am just saying, what if we put together a list of known vendors and known products that work all for a price of $1500 or less. With as little welding/fabricating as possible.

With a very thorough list so that people dont have to use the search button time and again. Plus, its just a list. Not a guide. It'd be as simple as taking GSGoinFasts list and adding to it.


So please chillax, take a breather, punch something, do whatever you do to releive stress cause its not that difficult to stomach.

I think you should start by searching and buying the easy parts first... the one you can install before the turbo. Missing link, turbo timer, gauges, fuel pump... after choose if you want a mitsu or garrett turbo and take a manifold for it. Now sfic or fmic... and you can mouint it before the turbo... just dont put the piping. While you are doing this you have time to learn again and buy other missing things. You cant expect find all goodies you need in 1 week if you dont buy a kit... now 2 months and I have 3/4 of a kit. Btw im doing this way, make your own!

Alright dude, this is what I did and the prices off the top of my head.

Used Hahn s16g - 250 = 2gnt member
Used Hahn mani - 140 = Ebay
Used Hahn FMIC - 400 = 2gnt member
2.5" SS downpipe - 200 = 2gnt member
Walbro 255 - 80 = 2gnt member
All oil lines - 50 = Local store
Oil pressure, Boost, EGT, Fuel pressure gauges and Autometer pod - 260 = Summitracing.com
Aeromotive 1:1 - 140 = Summitracing.com
Megasquirt v3.0 with all sensors harness etc - 430 = 2gnt member
Daytona WEGO wideband controller w/sensor - 280 = Daytona-twintec.com
All IC piping brand new from Hahn - 400

Add all that together and you get 2,630. I dont like to skimp when it comes to turboing my car. Especially with stock internals on my daily driver. You can have it cheap and cut corners but its your call, this is just what I've bought.

Thats not including tools I've had to buy, the oil pressure sensor I broke, etc. I suggest having at least 300 bucks extra for any extra stuff you might have to buy.
The reason why everyone got pissed at you is because most people dont want to take the time to do tons of research and type it all out for someone else. I have been building my kit for over a year now and have learned so much from this site. Always remember the SEARCH button is your friend

Where did all your anger come from dude, you come in here like you own the place and start making demands, WTH?!?

#1- Buying the parts new for a turbo kit will cost you in excess of $1400 without charge-pipes/downpipe or fabrication. The only way to go under that amount of money is to fabricate things yourself. If you don't have the tools or the skills, you need to have the money to pay someone else.

#2- There are so many factors involved with a turbo kit, defined by goals, ultimate power level, cost of parts (in your case), street, strip, autoX, etc. that a list of parts for a universal turbo system is almost a stupid idea in the first place.

#3- If you are interested in coming up with this list for the betterment of our community and to help others out, make it yourself. If you come to us with a list already, and then ask input on said list, you will be recieved with a much more positive attitude. Actually demonstrating knowledge rather than just stating "I pressed the search button" will take you leaps and bounds further than you could even imagine. Remember, you're asking for help from the guys who know their shit, but you ask it like a kid not willing to do anything for himself, and these guys don't respond well to that kind of display.

To the original poster, Chris'(GSgoinfast) guide is like I said, a GUIDE. It is in no way shape or form anything more. It lists all of the things you need to achieve boost. Some things you can get from a few different places and will come in a few different ways. It's what makes the kit custom. You get products where you find them. Your idea isn't a bad one for a write up with all the links to where you get the parts, but it has a major flaw. Which is that all companies change stock and prices. So a link may be valid one day and gone the next.

Very true and i have taken that into consideration and realize that. But on average its a good bet that the original vendor can be contacted directly and the same product can be bought for a similar price. At least for some time. Also thats probably a good reason that Ebay stores shouldnt be used for everything even though their the most affordable. (probably due to drop shipping?)

Again i wanna stress that I'm am in no way criticizing GSGoinFasts write-up. Its a great writeup and very helpful. This is basically an addition to that. An option for those who want to turbo their car but tired of looking and waiting for deals. Or dont want to have to find a welder for most of their kit.

Its not about being lazy either. If I were lazy, I would just drop 3k on a Hahn kit. Its about saving time and money and building a decent kit on the resources you have.

As for that turbo in your link, it's a known fact that alot of the cheaply priced turbos on Ebay are cheaply made. There are pictures of compressor housings that were glued together and had separated. No one can tell you that the turbo will not work, it probably will. The question is, how long. I can tell you that it probably wouldn't make it passed 1/2 a year, if even that far.

The way you presented yourself is what is causing all of the hatred. You came in and immediately started demanding. Even if they weren't serious demands, like you said yourself it's hard to display emotion online. You also talk about having so much research done. I won't say you don't, but considering buying a turbo like that doesn't display that knowledge you should have taken in....

umm just my .02 but this all boils back down to the contractors triangle. you can have it cheap, fast and easy..pick two.(cant remember the member w/ this in his sig..but credit to him).

I am a 22 year old Electrical Engineer. Links are much appreciated. Yea ive been to tuners quite a bit. Even more segregation there lol.

I threw the EE part in there cause i know you think i'm coming off as newbish. And i can understand that. I dont have much experience w/ boosted/import/newer engines. I mostly dabble in electronics or older engines, and from what I've come to learn with products/service is that you can find great bargains on even decent quality parts.

I've found this as a whole, not just electronics. For example, 2 years ago, I put together and installed myself a dvd/motorized lcd combo in my car for $250 when everyone else was paying $2000 at Circuit City.

Granted it was not all in one package but with our double din's it doesnt matter and it looks professional. Best of all is it works like brand new, (Great TFT by the way) and i watch a movie on it at least 3 times a week.

I'm a hippocrate though because I said electronic equipment analogies wouldnt fly lol. But you see where I'm goin. I appreciate the criticism but it just sucks when everyones so nasty about it. But considering my first post after i re-read it I can see that justified.

with all the time you spent arguing with people here that are gonna save your ass when you won't know the hell you re doing, you could have searched all over the internet and found some good deals already....

there is no such thing as spending 3 weeks creating a list of parts/vendor and hoping to buy everything you planned, simply cause it won't be possible. trust me I ve been there, done that...

If you want my advice, just jump on a good deal when you see one and when you got everything, write it up and post it.
