#96010, "got my SFMU now, tell me."

Here's what I got, rc 440cc injectors, crower 2 cams, walbro 255, 4an ss lines. My Tial wastegate is set at 5lbs, and that's what I want to run for now. Please tell me what to do with the SFMU. It's brand new and I know how to hook it all up, but as far as what spring, disk, and ring I need to use, I am clueless. What static pressure should I have, what idle pressure should I have? Also, I don't have the bleed screw. Please help, this is the last thing left before I can boost. I am really pumped and tired of searching and it's late and I just want someone to tell me what to do, I trust this site with my life, I must go to bed now. Hopefully tomorrow someone will have replied. TIA everyone.

this thread should help give you a few ideas as to what disk/spring to use, what static pressure/idle pressure etc.
http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=56157&mode=full

As for the actual tuning aspects, someone else is gonna have to give you a hand with that one.

Kinda helps, but I am not sure what disk/ring and spring to run for 5psi of boost with my 440's. Is there anyone out there running the same?? This is the last thing I have left before I can start my car. Also, I have the Zeitronix WBO2 with EGT and Boost sensor. What AFR's should I be shooting for? HELP HELP. I am so tired of working on my car, I just want it to run again.

I think the 440's are serious overkill for 5psi. I would put your stockie's back in and run the largest disk and the tall silver spring and thats it! Then just adjust your set screw to adjust your idle FP. 440's are more for 15psi not 5psi! Are you planning on boosting more then 5-7psi anytime soon? I mean within the next couple months?

For 5-7psi of boost 310's and the largest disk worked great for me. But for 5psi your fine with the stock injectors. 310's just give you that extra bit of breathing room so your not so close to maxin out your DC.

Yeah, I plan to be at 15-20 psi after I get used to everything boosted and make sure everything runs correctly. I am new to the turbo world, so I don't want to mess up. So, 440's won't work for 5psi? Lemme know. Thanks for the help.

I understand what your trying to do but it's pointless trying to run 5psi. Use the 2.72 disc/ring with the dark spring, set static fp at like 25psi, connect vac line and have it around 15 or so psi at idle with vac. Check your fuel trims with a obd2 scanner or whatever. Try and get your STFT to 0% by adjusting the idle FP.

Do you have an safc cause if not your going to be running effin rich all the time. I had to pull 45% under 1krpm on the afc to even get close to 0% stft.

If you keep running if so rich you will cause damage to your rings/cylinder walls by washing the oil away with too much fuel.

I don't care what anyone else says, when I was doing the 450's people would say "oh I got mine to idle perfect w/o an safc"

Yea well 'idle', and running 'pig rich' are totally different things. It may idle fine, but........

There. start your car. Run 10psi.

Ok, just to take care of this now, when I get my boost controller and want to bump it to 10psi, what would I do then? I will have to put the 440's back in, what else, do I need to change the disc/ring and spring? I am guessing the the 2.72 ring and disc with the black smaller spring right? What idle, and static pressures would I run for 10psi?? I also bought the bleed valve for the sfmu. Thanks for the help, I just feel really really dumb when it comes to this SFMU. Let me know.

If you turn it up to 10psi I would recommend putting in 310's, but if all you have is 440's then that will do...still overkill though. Yah you will have to change out your disk ring combo.

Read up on this to give you a better idea and I would recommend more searching!

I agree with what the other guys are saying, its better to run smaller injectors if you're only running 5psi. Stock 235cc is kinda on the small side, but 270-310cc would be perfect.

However, when I had 440's and a SFMU I had my WG set to 5psi for daily driving, and only turned on the boost controller (15psi and 18psi presets) when I wanted to go fast. There is no problem with running 5psi on 440's for a little while if you plan to upgrade.

Read the www.vortechsuperchargers.com/pdf/manuals/superfmuim.pdf, and read www.2gnt.com/www/corbin/choosefpr.html a few dozen times, and you'll get it. We've discussed the different spring/disk/ring combinations thousands of times if you want to search, but I admit it is hard to find agreement and a simple answer.

This is one of those things that I personally think is best to just bite the bullet, and LEARN the ins and outs of how it works, and choose your own disk/ring/spring combo.

It might seem like a pain to open up the fmu and change shit but get used to it.

Read my last post on how to set it up with the 440's. It's a place to start, you've got a wideband so watch it.

The only way you are REALLY able to tune the sfmu

scenario 1: Cruising on the highway 45mph 3rd gear. You step on it 60-80% tps(15psi say) . If your wideband is reading is around 12.5ish. (say you want it around 11.5) Check the bleed valve on the fmu and open it 1 turn. Go do the same thing and see if it makes a difference. Turn it a bit more. Try again. See what the differences are in your a/f are.

All you can really change with the bleed screw is the pressure rise RATE. How quickly it comes up.

Set the sfmu and FP as I said earlier. Start the car and drive. It's not going to blow up or anything. Seriousley. I was in your same position but these guys on 2gnt can't just come and do it for you. I must have taken the fmu apart 10 times trying different shit watching the FP gauge and making sure the press rose enough. I didn't have a wideband.
