Does anyone run their turbo setup without a Missing Link on their map sensor? Just wandering what happens if you run without it and boost around 7-9 psi.

no an FCD is basically an electronic Missing link, or its commonly called a voltage clamp.

I had problems with the missing link. It was causing my car to buck a bit. I would go with the clamp over the ml.

What is the highest boost the missing link is good for?
above 13-14 psi my map sensor gets damaged and needs replacing, even with the missing link...

That sensor is built to withstand 100+ PSI backfires. 13 PSI above ambient shouldn't make a difference to it...

There isn't much of an internal difference between a 1 bar MAP sensor, and a 3 bar MAP sensor...

Oh, well the stock sensor worked for over a year at 8psi, i boosted 12-14 for a few weeks and it was fine then too. Then I boosted 18 and after about 3 pulls it wouldn't idle and kept dying. (would run ok while driving and wot). I replaced the map sensor and it ran like normal again... I bought the missing link and after I installed it I boosted 18 again and it fucked up like before. I replaced the map sensor again and it ran fine. I did this one more time and it fucked up and I replaced the map sensor and it ran fine... so now i've kept it at about 12 psi and its not fucking up.

I got my missing link, but the sent the wrong f*ing one. Is there an alternative to having the missing link other than a fuel cut defender? I plan on putting my turbo on this weekend so I need something so it wont cut fuel and go crazy.

I bought the missing link from Group 5 Motorsport. I sent them an email telling them to either send me the right one or give me my money back. If they give my money back or tell me to go screw myself, I will be buying from you then.

But is there an alternative to the missing link?

Would a 4.7 volt zener diode work. Does radioshack sell 4.7v ones? Does anyone know? And do you just solder it in between two wires on the MAP sensor harness wires?

I meant to say, inline with one of the wires on the sensor harness.

no it has to go from one of the wires to the other. there is a writeup on the internet about it. that is the same thing as fcd only typical FCD are adjustable so you can taylor it to your car. 4.7v diode is generic...works.

you never gave me points what in the world are you talking about? Anyway no big deal points are a big issue to me. If you want to go with a FCD i have a few made but you need a multimeter to set them.

How much for a FCD. I read in some posts that both a missing link and a FCD are good to have. Missing link will keep the boost from destroying the MAP sensor.
