#7945, "serious questions"

I have a MSD DIS-2 here w/ me and a tach adapter(p/n 8920).The booklet that came w/ the dis-2 said we're supposed to use the tach w/ p/n 8912.What gives?I'm confused w/c one we really need and summit ain't really helpfull. The thing is the dual ignition adapter(8912)is on back order for up to two months!.So,can I use this 8920 on our car?I read the archives and I guess they got away w/ using just one tach adapter and a cel.But they used another part number(8910).DO we need one or two?W/c one do we really need?I'm desperate.I don't wanna return the msd to summit and find out i can use it as it is,w/ the tach adapter(8920).If not,I don't wanna wait two months for another one. Please help me out guys.BTW,this is the only thing holding back my rebuild from completion!

All you need is one tach adapter. As for the part number, I'm not quite sure what it is. I will look it up for you when I get home. I have an MSD unit on my car and it works great. All the tach adapter really does is keeps the check engine light off. It's fairly simple to hook up. I will take a look at my setup at home and get back to you on this question.

Also email MSD. they are VERY fast (if innaccurate sometimes) at responding to tech emails. Guess that wont be much help this holiday weekend.

Yep, you need the 8912. I just moved recently. Let me look around some boxes because I may have some spare ones lying around! I will let you know if I have any if you want.
