I bought a turbo from them before I read all of their bad reviews on here. Here is the e-mail I sent them. You can gather what happened from there. Anybody have any luck with their customer service before?

I purchased a turbo from you in auction #2480348748 on Ebay. I finally installed the turbo this past weekend. I am extremely disappointed and need to talk to someone asap about this product. I now have 98 miles on the turbo and it is completely blown. The bearings are so shot I can move the shaft about a 1/4 of an inch in any direction.

I know for a fact this turbo was installed correctly and was started up by holding the fins for 1 minute and there was oil present in the supply line, which was checked.

I was driving and when the turbo started to spool I heard this sound like a siren. I pulled over and popped the hood. I pulled the air filter off and looked inside. There is an area around the housing where I can see that the compressor wheel was rubbing the housing. So I grabbed the shaft and much to my surprise I could wiggle it with no force whatsoever.

I believe it is ridiculous for this to happen to a turbo with only 98 miles on it. I have never seen anything like this. This problem needs to be resolved as soon as possible before I am forced to take further action. I would prefer my money back, but if we could work something out, I am open to suggestions. You shouldn't have a problem with them because you didn't cuss them out in a unprofesional manner You did good man for sorry about your bad luck with them as I have never....never had a problem with them.

Holding the compressor wheel for one minute is NOT how you pre-lube a turbo. I wouldn't be suprised if you fucked it up that way.

This company has no idea what you've been doing with the turbo for the last 3+ months. You receieved it and was happy with your purchase. But now, months and months later, after somethings gone wrong on your first ever attempt at building a turbo system, you expect them to send you a new turbo. What if you lost oil pressure to the turbo for a minute? Do you know for a FACT that didn't happen? No offense, but I'd tell you tough luck... buy another turbo.

I bought a turno from the, and guess what the piece of shit didn't even last 1 mile.
Finally got a replacement, and it lasted a whole 2 weeks.

After that they refused to help me. Said and I quote "Sorry, we don't warrant turbo's that have been installed on the car for 2 weeks."

They are a bunch of fuckwitts...

I was almost ready to drive to NC and beat the fuck out of them with they're crappy turbo.

But instead I rebuilt it myself, and it's rubbing better than ever.

^^^ how did you get ahold of them for the replacement? They have not returned an e-mail yet. do they have a phone number?

It's simple, they wouldn't reply to my emails for a week.
At which point I told them I would drive down there and throw the turbo through the window... and I was serious.

The next day they emailed me.. seems they had a lightning storm, which took out they're computer...
Faxing them did no good either.

That is a perfectly acceptable way to pre-lube a turbo. The point of pre-lubing a turbo is to have oil pressure before the bearings are loaded by shaft rotation.

That being said, I prefer to do it the old fashioned way, cranking the car with no fuel or spark with the oil return line in a bucket until oil starts coming out of the return line.

OK, my first turbo I got from them... I lubed it the old fashioned way... cranking over till oil comes out. Then hook up the oil line and the coil pack, and fire her up.

The turbo lasted not even enough time to see boost...

It's simple, the turbo was junk. It had a bent shaft or something believe it or not.

Next turbo, primed with the shaft holding method, lasted 2 weeks. I think they just rebuilt the old turbo... maybe without even changing the bearings... who knows.

I then rebuilt the turbo with a new bearing set, new comp wheel and modified compressor backplate... and it;s been working perfectly since.

All I can say is although the SSAutochrome turbos have good potential, just read theire feedback on ebay, under ANY of their names and you'll see they have a high failure rate.

They suck. I think they don't know how to build turbos.
