provided i order a motor from howell (vt's stroker block includes a forged crankshaft), i need to decide whether or not to spend the $700 on the forged 2.2L crank when i order my shortblock. whats the difference in power capabilities between the stock and forged. and what other advantages does the forged one provide?

I wouldnt bother... plus... think about how annoying it'll be to have to wait for a forged crankshaft to warm up in the morning.... CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK for like half an hour

WTF are you talking about yopu dont need to let your crank warm up.. Forged cranks are just a hell of alot stronger... best time so far 14.3 @ 101.1mph(no traction) fastest 2GNT with a hitch! until proven wrong... www.cnnmotorsports.com

NO. Heat is not applied directly to a crank like it is in a piston so the thermal expansion issue is not as severe.
Lots of factory cars come with a forged crank. 4g63's for example.
