Yep, the ACCEL inline is noisy at times, but always delivers in the 'fuel under max load' department. I have three of them on the 10-second RS! I know that sounds outrageous, but I use two for the primary fuel system, and one for the nitrous enrichment.
Rationale: the car has made, and will again make, big HP without nitrous on the main fuel system. When I designed the current fuel system layout, I wished to never have to do it again, even if I was making 750 HP without nitrous! It's kinda cool, I will show you folks at the shooutout. I modified the stock sending unit to provide two 1/2" (-8) pickup tubes that run to two filters, then the two pumps. The pressurized fuel from each pump then merges into a single 1/2" line to the engine compartment.
Why yet another pump for the nitrous? Surely the twin-pump main setup is enough for the 600 HP or so we make currently with nitrous engaged, right?. The answer is basic enough: with a seperate, dedicated nitrous enrichment fuel supply system (it has its own regulator too), there is never any interference with the main fuel supply, and vice versa. I have done mucho development with adding big N20 shots to hi-HP turbo engines, and negative interaction with the standard fuel system always occurs when there is not a seperate, dedicated nitrous fuel supply system. The results have ranged fom the sublime to the ridiculous if the fuel systems are combined this way!
Another reason for the dedicated nitrous fuel supply is the huge variance of fuel pressures seen with a FMU style system, which we have also had on the car during nitrous use (this poor mule has seen so many combos, I have lost count!). To properly calibrate the fuel jets @ 90-100 PSI of fuel pressure would require jets so small that the tiniest dirt particles can clog them, resulting in a lean condition on one cylinder. We just can't do allow that to happen! But with a standard fuel pressure for the N20 of 45 PSI, we can run reasonably sized jets that are not so sensitive to clogging. Further, the large variance in pressure seen with an FMU at different boost levels would lead to the nitrous enrichment being incorrect at all but one boost level, and that sure ain't cool!
