Ok ok ok ...enough bickering about the Cartech sucks this, it can't do that. Whatever.
I'm still using my Cartech w/ 30# injectors and it's working FLAWLESSLY for me...now.
The first bit of info that I need is which model are you using? There's 3 "styles" of Cartechs out there:
1: the old cast unit 2: the "old" billet unit that has 2 vacuum nipples on it (heehee, nipple) 3: the newest unit that has 1 vacuum nipple and a bleed valve.
I've got the #2 unit. If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge, GET ONE! That is the KEY component to properly tuning ANY/ALL fuel issues with the Cartech or any rising rate regulator for that much. You said you've got the top hex key turned ALL the way back in? That's WAY too much fuel bro. Mine's backed almost all the way out and I've getting 20-25psi of fuel pressure @ idle and when I hit 0in/Hg I'm ~40-45psi. @ 7psi of boost my fuel pressures are around 70psi. Yes, it's a bit rich, but it's not TOO rich. My EGTs never get above 1500-1550 even on LOOONG 4th gear pulls.
Another thing to consider is the following: how old is the unit and how long/hard was it used/abused before you got it? I've taken my unit apart AT LEAST 4 or 5 times and I can say, it's cake to rebuild. If you're pressures are rising too fast, back the bleed screw out. If that still doesn't do it, call BEGi and get the restrictor for the vacuum source. I had this issue, got the restrictor and my curve rises BEAUTIFULLY. The rebuild kit consists of a new bleed screw/valve (depending on the model you have), new diaphragm, new valve, and a new spring.
for those of you dissing the Cartech, I understand your gripes. The main reason I never "upgraded" to the SFMU is A) $$$ reasons and B) I'm almost done building my 8-injector setup. Do your research and actually try different possible solutions. The biggest solution I had for my Cartech unit was going directly to the source, Corky Bell. He manufactures and designed these units so I KNOW they work. If he uses them, then they've gotta work. Hit me up on AIM if anyone wants to talk about the Cartech. No bashing, but how I got it to work right, why it does what it does, etc. But please, no IMs telling me I'm stupid for sticking with it, or things of that nature.
