baddad, ok, yeah, you got some really badd information - sorry for the lame joke, couldn't resist. As Uber was trying to say, there is really no such thing as crankwalk on the 420a engine. Crankwalk is most common on the 2G (later models; 97-99) 4G63 engines. So actually, swaping a 4g63 into your car would introduce the possibility of crankwalk.
As far as swaps go, your info was partially right, a 1st gen 4g63 is certianly the motor you would want to go with. Here's the part your friend doesn't understand ... to convert a 420A NT vehicle into a 4G63 would be EXTREMELY difficult, time consuming, and money draining. Notice I didn't say impossible, just not really worth it. You'd need an engine, tranny, all wiring harnesses, motor mounts, the list goes on - it'd be easier to buy another car.
So, what does all this mean IMO: keep your car, do a rebuild, or go with the stroker kit and you'll have a bullet-proof engine/car. Bash the person who gave you that info in the head 1999 Eclipse GST 4G63
