Its a 96 gs with my own turbo kit. The car was a auto and i switched it to a 5 speed. Everytime you shift it while driving hard it will die and not restart until you get out and reset the computer. When its dead it has No spark. Any ideas why this is happening. I took the tcu out from under the dash and wired all the other stuff up to work when i put the 5 speed in (cruise clutch speedo etc....) Its getting to be agravating you cant drive the car hard and yank gears(the whole point of having a 5 speed.)

damn, that sux. almost sounds like something is loose or you have a bad ECU. dunno man

it is not your ECU! My friend has a 97 Talon and has the same problem but only in first gear. He has swapped the ECU and still had the same problem. I'm not sure what it is yet when I am I'll post.

Its not the ecu i have swapped it a few times. And i use to think it was only in first gear that it would do it but it will do it in any gear. But only under hard shifts. Driving normally on it and its fine. Ive got to figure this out. Anymore ideas.

Ok i figured out what is going on i went to a car show this weekend and it got worse until every time you shifted it would run like crap. I checked the CEL and it thru the map sensor # i put a new one in and bought a missing link and this took care of it. No more cutting off when driving the wheels of of it. So i guess OBD1 cars need the missing link or eventually the map sensor gets screwed up.
