Is is safe to spray Throttle Body/ carb choke cleaner in the input of the turbo to clean. I recently had a problem with the car and got oil all in the turbo and intercooler. I just dont want to damage the oil seals any more than they might be. Thanks

You vould do it with the engine running.... you'd just have to give it some gas to keep the revs up so it doesnt stall out on the cleaner....

On the label it should say to not use on a turbocharger. I know i've see them see that before. My answer, NO.

Actually thinking about it a good reason for NOT using it on your turbo is that the cleaner will get into the turbo internals... thus it will mix with the oil... not good.

I can't imagine that starting the turbo spinning with oil wixed with cleaner in it would be good....

So I change my opinion.... don't do it.

I really don't see any issue using it to clean off the oil. The cleaner evaporates so quickly, it won't have time to do any harm. I've actually used that stuff to clean out the bearing section on my turbo(when it was off the car). I sprayed the cleaner into the oil inlet, and let it set, and drain out. Did this numerous times, and it cleas out all the gunk in the bearing section. Made my turbo spin a bit more freely. You always run the risk of then leaking oil seals, if you have a lot of miles on the turbo though..I had under 10,000 on mine when Idid that. But I dont think carb cleaner will damage your turbo, but that's just my view on it. Do it at your own risk. I would def TAKE IT OFF THE CAR if you do it! You should only have to do it on the compressor side to, so no reason to touch the turbine side..

Thanks Guys. I avoided cleaning the turbo all together and focused on the intercooler and piping. The turbo only has maybe a hundred miles on it so it is brand new.

XtremeRS the downpipe fit great. I just put it on last weekend. I sent it to Jethot to get coated. Came out really nice and wont rust or discolor for a couple years at least.
