over the winter, i plan on purchasing an Accel DFI gen. VII (HRC's "old" "stage V" fuel system, DFI, 625's, 1:1 regulator). i've decided to do this for a couple of reasons:
1. a few weeks ago my car was broken into and the AFC was stolen, and i don't want to get another one. i also got a substantal amount of green from the insurance company. sounds like a good excuse to do a serious upgrade! lol... 2. i'll be able to have whatever redline i want 3. the gen. VII will pretty much replace the OEM ECU, enabling me to do whatever i want to injector/spark firing 4. no one on the board (that i know of) has the gen. VII, or has successfully made power above 7200 rpm's with a turbocharged 420a, it would be nice to actually do this
being able to circumvent the oem spark/fuel cut, i'll be able to rev my engine to pretty much whatever i want. i've heard of a lot of 4g63 guys who benefit from a 9000 rpm redline, with all of the supporting mods (aggressive cams, new lifters/rockers, springs, port maching, more head work, 20G, etc...) of course.
so, to make a long story short, i'm looking for a camshaft that will make NICE top end power. i could give a crap less about a nice idle or emissions. i have to get my car inspected/smogged this month, after that, it's another 2 years until i need to get smogged again (mass law) something tells me that the "turbo grind" crane's won't quite give me everything that i'm looking for all the way up to 9000 rpm's. i did some poking around on neons.org to see what their elite turbo people run with little success, but, i read one thread saying that the crane 18's wouldn't be good for a turbo application because of excessive overlap...? can this be eliminated with a decent set of cam gears?
what are the stage IV+ people on here using? dino? brad? chris? etc...?
thanks in advance. 2016 WRX STi Limited (current) 2001 A4 1.8tqms (donated) 1991 GVR4 #1933 (sold) old.dsmregistry.com/detail.php?carid=218 (dismantled)
