Cool is it better to have it down there or up at top. I know you can't put a flex section on anymore, well a big one anyway.

I've heard different things about that: It reduces turbulance near the turbine outlet to help spool and flow, and it can cause boost creep due to the pipe diameter and volume of gas evacuated through the wastegate.

The real reason it's like that: They did it while the downpipe was on the car, and the area was too small to work in, so they routed the pipe all the way down where they could actually weld it to the downpipe around all 360* of it.

I just think it looks cool, since it was the first time i've actually pulled it off the car (or been able to, for that matter.)

Nice. How different does you car sound and how was performance affected (FMAX claims up to 40+hp from leaving the dump tube in open air). Also is it a bitch to bolt the dump tube back up now that its attached to the downpipe or no problem.

wow are the newer star downpipes goofy looking. mine is an elbow off the turbo, an elbow at the bottom, and straight pipe right to the flange.

Anyway, why did you need a flange put on it to take it off? you mean the flange where it bolts to the cat?

Because, as i've stated before, it was all welded. One big chunk of exhaust from the turbo to the muffler.
