- chris, joe, MWC, or anyone else turbo'd in atlanta, i need some help here. after all this thinking ive realized i have no where in macon that can build my bottom end for me when the time comes, so i was wondering can you guys tell me which shops do your motor work and how much they charged you for labor (please state what labor they performed). On the boring for the JE pistons, include the price you had to pay for the machine work even if the machine shop charged you seperately from the shop that did the install. i need to know exactly what im looking at here and i know you guys can get me involved with a good shop i can drive to atlanta for to do this for me. 2 - i am also interested in what everyone else paid for labor building their internals, not just GA people, i just wanna know what shops i should consider here.
- also, what did you guys pay for upgrading your fuel systems? while reading the archives i came across a comment (from nemezis i believe) that said that he was gonna build his fuel system first because it cost about the same as building the bottom end. this is what throws me off (BADLY) because i imagine about $2500 for the bottom end right? (1150 for the hardware, and the rest on labor and machine work)? when thinking about the fuel system, all i can come up with is about $1300 ($350 for 440s, $300 for the SAFC, $400 labor, and that includes another $250 for me to add hahn's accel pump to the star kit, unless i go with the new edge kit which obviously already uses the accel pump)
- what other costs am i not seeing that would put a seemingly $1400 fuel system up towards the $2500 price range? was this just a misguided statement i read? i cant afford a $2000 turbo kit and then blow another $5000 on fixing whats already there (at least not for a while)
- one last question...on the new edge kit, it uses the accel fuel pump, i cant remember which FMU i read that it included. but either way, does this mean that the new edge kit is using the same fuel system setup as the hahn kit? if so, that makes the NER kit a star turbo with a hahn fuel system (exactly what ive been wanting)
thanks for the help!
