#51015, "hesitating star stage 2"

i finally finished my install. the star stage 2 looks great and so far shes running okay. i took her for a spin and it gets up and goes but at about 3,000 rpm in second gear it hesitates. seems like fuel is not getting there in time. do i need to get the car tuned after i installed it. i have teh super afc 2 but i havent dropped it in yet. do you guys think that would correct it. if not what else could it be. i was thinking it could be that stupid map bypass thing. does the missing link help on the hesitation. oh and i have a check engine light emoji i havent had it diagnosed yet though. any ideas from anyone on teh hesitation.
thanks
fred

Do the key dance to find out why your check engine light is on. That may answer your problem.

No, you shouldn't have to have it tuned. If it's the FCD, the S-AFC won't correct the problem. could be that your FCD isn't clamping the voltage low enough. check the code to find out for sure. If you can't do the key dance, autozone will check and clear them for free.

It's definately the FCD. Mine did the same thing. I threw it away and got a 'Missing Link', haven't had the problem since... That was over a year ago

OKAY EVERYONE KEEPS TALKING UP THE MISSING LINK, SO IM JUST GONNA GO AHEAD AND BUY IT. NOW WITH THAT THING DO I LEAVE THAT MAP SENSOR BYPASS THAT COMES WITH THE STAR KIT IN WITH THE MISSING LINK OR DOES THAT REPLACE THE MAP SENSOR BYPASS. AND CAN I SILL RUN THE SAFC OR SHOULD I GET RID OF IT. BESIDES TEH HESITATION IT RUNS GREAT . IT HESITATES ON THE TRANSITION FROM MID THROTTLE TO WIDE OPEN. MAN THESE CARS ARE COMPLICATED emoji

i believe that you would take the map sensor bypass off. dont quote me and DONT DO IT UNTIL SOME OTHER PEOPLE COMMENT. i believe it would replace that because the missing link holds your voltage at a certain level so your ecu doesnt see positive backpressure *boost*. i would keep the safc. you would probly need it for the bigger injectors or you would probly flood the engine with fuel. later.

You can leave the MAP bypass (otherwise known as FCD) on there if you want. The FCD does electronically what the missing link does mechanically. So, either should work. Although if you go to high boost levels, a missing link would be a good idea so that you don't crack your stock MAP sensor.

I hope you have another disk to change your rise rate for those 550's.

You have to get a different disk if you're going to put injectors that large in. I don't know what size disk, but for the 440's I'm using the smallest disk in the S-FMU kit. Someone else might know what disk to use, but I've never needed to calculate it.

Take the FCD off the car when you get the MISSING LINK, toss it in the trash. You will be very pleased with the ML, and will no longer get any hesitation @ 3000rpm.
