All is well this way..just got the biggest snow of the season tho! Old man winter had to get in his last licks, I suppose. Good news is, it will be 65 this weekend, so woo hoo...out come the toys! ============================================================================= 2003 is upon us! We plan to run both the Neon and the RS this year, along with a bevy of other new beauties (see our SEMA Feature Cars on the Website for details). +++++++++++++++++++
I took the HRC RS home for the winter, and it has been progressing nicely. My son Adam and I have been puttering with it in the garage. He will be 15 in June, so his interest in cars has now ramped up sharply! I resisted the urge to put a 'clone' of our Drag Neon driveline in it...I reasoned that the car will be more significant to other 2GNTers if it remains a 2.0 with a five speed, not a 2.4-automatic. Even tho I am sure we can go much quicker with the 2.4/auto, it's more than a bit of work (as I am sure you know) to get that stuff in there, and I really want to finish development of a ten-second combo with 2.0/5-speed. After that, who knows...the proverbial 'wild hair' could always intercede...heh! +++++++++++++++++++++++++
Nonetheless, the car will be Super 25G and ACCEL Gen VII equipped with that 2.0 tho...fun, fun, fun! As you know, I ain't skeered to break it...if we could do 600 HP with the Super 20G and N20, I can see 750 or so with the bigger turbo and maybe a tad more juice. 600 HP should get it into the hi tens, so 750 should be good for mid to low tens. Prob need that 2.4 / auto to go into the nines tho...oh man, there I go! Stop me before I mod again! ++++++++++++++++++++++++
Neon fun will continue...we have a new partner in TCI to beef up the driveline department, which is a good thing! I sat on my hands with power increases last year, as more power would simply have stressed the somewhat fragile automatic trans into failure even more often. But now, I will be able to upgrade the turbo, as even a Super 25G is small at this level of competition. We will also finally port the cylinder head, as we feel low nines at almost 160 MPH is abouut the most we will get out of a stock head and valves! George Bryce, of multitime champion ProStock motorcycle fame with Star Racing, will be doing our cylinder head development. All told, we expect to step well into the eight second range with these improvements!
