Mark off where you want to drill. Then get a hole saw drill bit and drill away! Make sure you wear all safety gear....

Does it matter where you drill on the oil pan and what would be the size of the hole that's drilled in?

Yes it all matters.
The figure out where you need to drill, you need to attach the downpipe to the turbo which in turn is attached to the manifold and engine.

Then you try to fit the hard oil line somewhere on the oil pan that is flat.

You need to put the downpipe temporarily on so that you can determine that enough clearance is for the hard line.

My hard line never did have enough clearance so I had to get my downpipe bent in a few places... emoji

Would it be good to do an oil change while you do that drilling stuff on the oil pan? I'm at 3000+ miles right now and I await the arrival of my Star Stage 1 kit.

LAST EDITED ON 27-Apr-01 AT 11:14 PM (PST)

you have to drain your engine of oil to install a turbo. no way around it. Just wait till the turbo arrives. Make sure to have 4 1/2 quarts of synthetic oil ready to go with a new filter and 93 octane already in the tank.

Oh yeah...make sure you take the oil pan off and clear it of all the burs from the drilling. its easier that way anyway.

Man it was so much easier just following the HRC directions emoji

Stars directions okay here. They state you must take the oil pan off, arrangement of the drain pipe and plate, show a pic of where to drill and the procedure of mounting the downpipe first to verify clearance.
