The figure out where you need to drill, you need to attach the downpipe to the turbo which in turn is attached to the manifold and engine. Then you try to fit the hard oil line somewhere on the oil pan that is flat. You need to put the downpipe temporarily on so that you can determine that enough clearance is for the hard line. Posted by Jeff_99gs, Apr-27-01 06:12 PM LAST EDITED ON 27-Apr-01 AT 11:14 PM (PST) you have to drain your engine of oil to install a turbo. no way around it. Just wait till the turbo arrives. Make sure to have 4 1/2 quarts of synthetic oil ready to go with a new filter and 93 octane already in the tank. Oh yeah...make sure you take the oil pan off and clear it of all the burs from the drilling. its easier that way anyway. They state you must take the oil pan off, arrangement of the drain pipe and plate, show a pic of where to drill and the procedure of mounting the downpipe first to verify clearance.
