<<I have been reading up on this message board and I see that people are saying to change this and change that before NOS.. I always thought that a small NOS shot could be used without haveing to change anything.. i.e.- exhaust, headers, ect. Is this true?? or have I just been stupid all this time? I own a 99GS-limited edition with no engine mods at all, not even an intake or exhaust. Is that a no no if I am thinking of NOS??>>
no, not at all. holley swears that you can safely run a 50 shot system on a completely stock car. (you might want to at least change your plugs to a colder range.) you may want to check for any leaks, or possibly get a compression test before you start spraying, you don't want to find out the hard way that you had a preexhisting problem. many people forget to do this step, then they end up blaming NOS for blowing up their engine, when in reality, it was a problem that was already present.
<< I was thinking maybe a 50-75 shot system. Whats the best experience everyone has had with different brands?>>
I have a 1996 talon and i have been using a NOS 50 wet shot for a year now. i am very pleased. it's not really neck breaking power, but it's enough to pull another car length or two on those shitty hondas.
<< Oh. one more thing.. I was wondering this as well, the WOT switch turns the system on when engaged, but if I take my foot off the gas say somewhere around 3rd gear because the light changes red or I see one of the many NYPD crusing around, will that damage my engine? or does the system shut off and stop the spray of N2O into my engine??>>
the WOT switch only sprays when the pedal is all the way to the floor. if you aren't at wide open throttle, you aren't spraying basically. i don't know if you have an AT or MT, but i don't think it would matter. my girlfriend drives my car all the time and she sprays too. we've never had a problem. i live in NY too, and there's a way to get yourself out of NOS tickets. if you install a automatic bottle opener, and a purge valve, you're set. first you close the bottle as soon as you get pulled over. then, you purge out your lines. when the cop comes up to your car, first of all, don't tell him that you have nitrous. secondly, if he finds the bottle, tell him it's for track use only, and then show him that there is no pressure in your line. that would prove that you aren't spraying on public streets. (or are you?? }> ) can a cop give you a ticket because you race your car at a track?? nope.
<<Whats the best setup and about how much am I looking at??>>
YOU NEED: $500 for the basic NOS kit $50 for a pressure gauge
IT WOULD HELP TO HAVE: approx $125 purge valve $125 bottle opener $100 bottle warmer for those chilly NY nights $30 blow down tube
<<any ideas on how to "hide" the install??>>
just put it in your trunk. or something like that. that's my set up, and the seat folds up nicely with no problems.
hope this helps.
