#31449, "Help with 02 sensor CEL code"

I posted this awhile ago in the Performance section but got no response so Imma try this section:

AFter I washed my engine bay I accidently got the connector wet. So I turn on the car and my A/F gauge pegs to the last green and stays there throughout driving. It hesitates and surges when driving and idles off-beat. It threw the Check Engine and Autozone came up with the code 0132 O2 sensor sees more than 1.2v for 30 sec. I read the Service manual and it says when this happens the O2 sensor voltage shorts to the 02 sensor heater voltage. I take a Multimeter and get 13V for the heater and the O2 reads 9V..WTF?! I ditch the connector and short the wires together. Still the same - I just ordered a Bosch O2 sensor and am gonna install it this weekend. Thing I don't get is how could my 02 sensor get damaged electrically? Right now I cut the wires to the sensor to stop the funny idle. The A/F gauge stays center (yellow) and throws the CEL, but still runs OK. Please anybody with a clue help out. THanks

sounds like the symptoms of a bad o2 sensor. Just be sure to double check all wiring, esp your A/F gauge tap connection. Be sure all connectors are dry, and not corroded any. Check the actual connection where your A/F gauge is, be sure it is dry, and tight.

The A/F connection is tight..I even measured it at that point with a multimeter..I just hope it is not the ECU

check all your grounds. The battery, the ECU, and your A/F gauge to rule all that out too..
