I guess i'm just lucky, or my setup, despite it's age, is more robust that i imagine. I ran my car with the wastegate inproperly connected (boosted shut ) for about two weeks, sometimes spiking to as high as 18PSI, and i have no lasting damage, and the car still runs great. Good luck with the rebuild!
