What's up I'm new to the board. I was woudering about rim and tire size for a drag radial set up? I have 17's now with Kuhmo's, and a HRC stage 1 with stage 2 on the way. Can I go down to 15's up front or is that too small for stage 2 kit, would I get to much wheel spin? Also how wide can we go for the front tires?
Thanks for the help, Patrick

You could go with 235 series easy on even 18" wheels. My best friend runs 235 series on 18" rims with the Star stage 2 kit, and he barely ever rubs on everyday driving. If you went down to 15" rims then you could go full drag tires also. with a stage 1 kit I don't think it would be nesessary. you wouldn't be able to boost that much to need them with a stage 1 kit. stage 2 kit might not even need them either. I would stick with a good set of street tires like Nitto 555 extremes or Falken Azenis and you should be good no matter what.

It depends on the offset of the rim. I run 16x8" rims, but due to the offset, i have to run a 1/8th inch space for the 225 tires i run to fit. (They're 3g TT RX-7, btw) Even then, i still get evidence of abrasion on my upper U arm - but i think i could fit a 235 on it without it rubbing too bad. Maybe...

as far as rim clearance with single piston calipers you can go with 14's and dual piston calipers you need 16" or larger. If it were me and i had a choice to go with a 14 I would and i would prefer a real slick opposed to a drag radial. I run 225 50 16 0n mine they make a big difference but you really need to heat the shit out of them. Stay in the burn box. late mike
