I've only saw one (on a guy's car that was on the sstour) He had the hrc stage 2. His turbo lookd a lot smaller than mine. But thats about all i know about the hrc kit. But i think you can also upgrade the turbos in the kits to bigger ones, and i never asked him the size of turbo he had.

big 16G (hrc kit) is smaller and flows less den a T3/T4... i think a 20G flows less than a t3/T4 too

Both turbos are great. But don't think that because the 16g is smaller it cant produce hp. Many GSX and GSt owners upgrade to the 16g and run 20-25psi and run 12's and 13's in the quarter mile. The 16g is a little smaller but it only means quicker spool up....hehe }>

Yes i do }>
The hrc should spool up a bit faster than the regular t3/t4 (since it's smaller) but top end the t3/t4 will produce way more power. I think it's capeable of up to 500hp before a bigger tutbo is needed. not usre though

All your turbocharger questions can be answered on www.turbochargers.com. They give info on the amount CFM that all three turbos put out. The t3/t4 is bigger than a 20g and 16g. I was suprised that it was bigger than a 20g, but it is a huge difference when you check out the amount of CFM the t3/t4 puts out.

Mark, lets run both our cars at like 20psi and see how the two turbo's compare, I'll take my sub enclosure out of the back and we should be even in weight just about... It'll be a good test. Don't you guys think so? A Star package with a HRC stage V fuel system and a spearco FMIC vs. a HRC stage V super20g turbo/ stage V fuel set up with a apexI FMIC...

Well, when I get it tuned, I am getting it dyno'd.. Mark, you wanna get your dyno'd? I'm sure you do. I'm gonna go to that place by IUS.

I'll post results asap, but it'll be awhile before I get my car tuned decent. Sounds like mark's car is tuned decent now though, 25psi runs smoking a fixed up SS, good job mark, glad you didnt sell it yet?

Kory you are correct....as far as dyno comparison you can't dyno 2 different cars with similar setups and compare turbo's Only way to do that is on the same car with the same setup. To get true accurate numbers..of course thats IMO. Good Dyno numbers by the way. I'll be posting mine someday soon...

Good numbers - impressive for the listed boost level. Now on to a few things I have read here.

Yes, the T3/T4 is BIG. Much bigger than a S16G or a S20G for that matter. It has a higher horsepower 'potential' than a S20G. I say potential as I have yet to hear of anyone putting down more than mid 200's at the wheels where I know of a S20G laying down near 400fwhp on a 420A.

BB DOES NOT improve spoolup as much as people think. helps, yes, but only by 200-300rpm AT MOST. perhaps in keeping the turbo spooled as well in between shifts if you do not shift quick enough.

Now the larger turbo is truly only effective at high hp levels and more top end. That is definitely good power at that boost level, but I can just run more boost to make up for it can't I emoji The point is trying to compare the two different cars is pointless. Where the difference with a big ass turbo comes in is when running high boost, normally on race gas. That being said, a good advantage (to a point) is that the exta lag actually helps with traction because the turbo tends to spool up much more progressive than a small turbo that comes on all at once. The turbo will work well in its current application, but no better than my 'small' turbo at that power level.

Also, what is also being missed is that the 275hp range is what is considered a safe hp level on stock internals regardless of boost level. If you still have stock internals I would look into an MSD to help out plus a S-AFC and injectors.

Cheers

9psi is my only setting since i'm using just a standard mbc. And it's been set there about 4 months now. But on a typical day I might hit 1-2 psi thats it. Just cause i putt it around town. I did hit over 15psi one day. Scared the Sh%t out of my I just though my pistons would come flying out the hood. But it was for only a sec, then i pulled over and readjusted the mbc (i had a boost leak and in the proccess of trying different things i turned up the mbc and when i found the leak and fixed i forgot to turn it back down)
I've got some 42lb injectors comming and then I'll get the afc and msd, and try out 12 psi at the track, but probably just run 10 daily
