Most ridiculous looking manifold EVER. It does look cool, but I think I'd really just rather a shortie like the one Peachy made for Mark (unless of course you needed to move the mounting location of the turbo for some reason. Is it equal length?

I'm not discrediting it, it's obvious there's some serious time into the design and fab of it. I'm just a bit on the lazier side so I think if I could weld and wanted to make a manifold I'd keep it simpler. At the same time it would be awesome to make a mani that looked like that and when asked about it be able to say that you actually made it. Props on the work, can't wait to see the final product!

It fits perfect but it requires the fans to be in front and the heater pipe removed

More picts:

After final prep of the flange (belt sander) the flange has almost zero warp. I did pretty decent on the heat control of the flange.

looks like my email was A bit late.... lookin good. have you figured out the length of the runners? I've had great success with pulse tuning and helping spool times/boost threashold. I thought Mine was crazy lookin but I think thats a little more extreme. It's hard to get ppl to understand, but curves have little effect on the flow when there's the energy of sound pushing things along.

Creative thinking? Ingenuity? Hell, It's just an obsession!

Thanks Mark. The runners are 16" with a 1/4" variance.

The heat email i sent you, the way i battled that was to take the long way around it and weld short bursts letting the flange cool before i did another. If you sent me an email i do look forward to readign it though. Not the most efficient way but it worked well and I took care of some cleaning on the daily driver..lol

As far as resistance due to the bends, your saying the resistance offect by the pipe is defeated by the sound wave created by the exhaust pulse?

My original concept was to keep itr simple but after 3 hours of fitting the runner 4, i couldnt help it but try to make it as twisted and apealling to the eyes as i could.

Josh (turbo8u), regarding our previous discussion.....my issue was surface contamination caused by poor gas flow. Tungsten too far out mainly and a very small cup.

It's still something I'm experimenting with, but yes. The sound energy can be harnessed with a Turbo manifold just like with a N/A header. And My work with 2-stoke's and bike motors has shown that bends and curves can have little effect when the sound energy is there. I'm still trying to single out the effects and find an exact science to it, but from what evidence I have collected so far from hours of dyno testing there seams to be quite a bit of untapped potential within a manifold design that could prove to result in substantial power gains. Wether it be straight or with many curves. I'll try to take the numbers you gave along with what info I can get from studying your pics and see what kind of results your manifold might produce as far as effecting the turbo. I'll send you an IM when I get it all figured out and hopefully we can compare the numbers with how the mani reacts on your car. If you wouldn't mind your manifold becoming a part of my statistics that is...

Wow Terry. When did you get all this skill? That is crazy work!

So does anyone have linkys to real-world performance comparisons of equal-length vs log? I've always been curious as to how effort like this pans out in terms of performance

There's not much online thats easily available except for some posted or advertised dyno results. But ask any tuner, especially someone with a dyno, the evidence is in the results. It can be found, but takes some searching. If you want to really discuss it, start a new post. Thats why we're here.
