Is HID lighting possible on stock headlights? –yes, search
If so, what is the best bet, I don't want to risk melting the headlight housings because I don't want to get pissed off over it if I do. –HIDs use less power than the stock oem lights. The light bulb is different than the halogens, that's why they look brighter without the extra power, unlike the HID knockoffs that you can buy for $50
If it is possible, what are the benefits/drawbacks? –money, expect to spend about 200. YOu won't be able to flash the highbeams since if the headlight is off, it sends power to the ballast momentarily and it is bad for the ballast (so I've heard from eclipsetenzor). You can rewire it which I will try this December break.
What would be the best brand? –some say muccullah. I personally have the cheapo ones that have a 1 yr warrantee. Its some south korean brand. I'm cool with this one and happy with the output and no glare. Some may disagree and recommend doing a retro fit but hey I'm happy with my lights.
What would be the best site? –ebay, imo. Cheap prices are cool for a broke ass college student.
And most importantly, is it really worth it? –yes yes yes!!!
I had the "look of HID" with Sylvania Silverstars for a while, but I put the stock bulbs back in because I kept burning through those Silverstars like I do oil. (drivers side will only last 3 months!!!) I loved those silverstars because of the output... I still have 1 working bulb, but i'm not forking out another $20 for one that will burn out on me. If HID is possible, will they burn out as quickly as the SilverStars do?
–HIDs are actully rated to last much longer than halogens. Don't know the exact specifics, use google if you really wanna know.
