Has anyone done this?, I am getting my valve cover, and strut brace mounts powder coated, and i'm doing my front brakes soon, so i was thinkin while i'm at it, i might get my calipers, and rear drums done. I was wondering if it would stay on, unlike most caliper paint i've seen that fades and chips, powder coat is more durable, think it'll work? Also i was gonna get some of my interior, ex: vents, and door handles, etc..done too, will powder coat stick to plastic? I have never seen powder coating stick to plastic. You have to bake it after you apply it and the temperature would melt the plastic. (it is somewhere in the 400+ degree range.) You would be better off painting the interior plastic with a good quality automotive paint. Sorry!
You can get your own equipment to powder coat at http://www.eastwoodco.com or http://www.hotcoat.com although it is not cheap. You better plan on doing a lot of stuff. Maybe if a few people in your area are interested you could all chip in! Just my 2 cents.

I have had my valve cover, ecu bracket, cdaliper, drums and other stuff powdercoated for a long time and it still looks great. Can't powder coat plastic because you have to bake it and the plastic will melt.

Like the guys said above, powder coating requires baking(450 degrees), but it's very nice and very durable. I had a valve cover done in blue and then I shaved the lettering...looks tight. You can see it here:

I CAREFULLY used a sanding block with many grades of sand paper. You could also tape off some of the cover to protect it if you want. Once I got it to the bare aluminum, I pollished it with a dremmel.

Hey, what color blue is that, thats the exact color i'm looking for. And also i decided i'm just gonna buy my own gun and do everything myself because it'll be cheaper, i got quoted $50 just to do the valve cover, so i'll post up when i get it, if anyone wants anything done. Well, i know $50 ist that bad, but for a powder coat gun i can get one for $150, plus $8 for the powder, i have a air compressor, and a spare oven. Also a friend is going in on it. So if we do both valve covers, plus various other parts, around $200 or so to buy our own, will probably be alot cheaper. I got all my stuff for free. And i am getting my wheels powdercoated gunmetal for $120 for all 4. $60 to strip them, $30 to paint them and $30 to clear coat them.
