#104543, "Headlight issue. A bit long."

I've had a strange problem lately with my passenger side low beam. For the last few months, after I would turn the headlights on, it would occasionally take my passenger side light about a minute or two to finally kick on. I was actually able to see the highbeam indicator on the dash barely light up until the low beam kicked in, but it wouldn't be noticable unless you would really look at it (yeah, that dim). Now, I have no low beam at all on the passenger side, but high beams work perfectly fine. The car came with hardwired chrome ebay projectors when I got it and I had to find and reconnect the harnesses to use my previous projectors, as well as my new ones. I checked to see if the wiring came loose, even redoing it and recrimping it to be on the safe side. I checked the relays in the box under the hood and everything checks out. Is there another relay or fuse I'm overlooking? Before someone says to do a search, I did do a couple of searches, but I couldn't find anything helpful regarding this. Thanks in advance.

You ever heard that saying "You get what you paid for".. Anyway with that said. More than likely your "Hardwiring" is bad due to a bad connection or melting is possible, just the heat of the lighting. My .02, so open it up and check the wires...I've seen this numerous times. Good luck. I hate to hear that you have that problem.

It`s not hardwired anymore. It hasn`t been for the last 3 years. I got harnesses from a wrecked Eclipse and installed them to run my previous lights.

If your highbeam indicator is coming on faintly when you only have your lowbeams on you may have a problem with the stalk switch (the switch assembly on the column).

A bad fuse or relay is not likely going to act as a timer and allow the only one light to turn on after a couple minutes - they do not work that way. The wiring from the donor car may be suspect. You need to review all connections and pull apart the split loom and look for problems.

If possible, obtain an extra steering column switch to swap in for good measure.

Wouldn`t both headlights have a problem if it was the stalk? Plus, now that the passenger side light is out, the high beam indicator works perfectly. Damn, right when everything seems fine with my car... Gotta love 15 year old cars.

Well, I checked the donor car wiring and it ohms out. I checked from the connector to the wiring right after the crimp connectors. So, now it`s on to the factory wiring. The more I thought about it, it dawned on me that everytime I washed my car, the lights would turn right on. So now I`m aiming for the wiring that runs right through the support for the radiator.

Finally found the problem. All I can say is that having a 15 year old car and being the third owner means you have to fix previous owners' shoddy work. In this case, a loom covering a loom covering really poorly spliced wires. I know, pretty half-assed and stupid. At least my car isn't a pirate anymore
