#9870, "What all can be done to squeeze every ounce of power out of the 4g63?"
Sep-14-04 03:07 PM by FlyinEsi

I already have intake/exhaust, lightened flywheel

This winter, I have planned

3" downpipe
Under-drive pulleys
Balance Shaft removal
crankscraper

Anything else I can do for cheap, easy, slight HP gains?

larger TB; 1g CAS (to advance timing); engine ground kit; port/polish turbo; port/polish head;

nitrous (but you probably want an engine build up before)

see I think instead of spending money here and there for small things, you should drop it all on a built engine that can withstand higher psi, then eventually get a larger turbo and or nitrous.

weight reduction, not always an easy task. you could think about not just how to make the engine faster but transfering that power to the pavement more efficiently or Bigger turbo

Okay, I'll play this game

3" turbo back -
ported exhaust manifold -
SCM50/GT32E - ??? What is that?
650/750cc injectors - 550s here already
272/272's - On my to buy list, Crower stage 3 cams as soon as I build the head to handle them
Lightened Flywheel -
Performance Clutch -
AFPR - Full Throttle Speed AFPR w/ fuel pressure gauge
Walbro 255 -
Motor Mounts - Nah, I like the quiet smooth idle of the 4g63
FMIC - Check my sig, Greddy big FMIC
DSMlink -
Wires -
Plugs -
Intake -

I know I need to build up the motor, bigger turbo, blah blah, I was just looking for some cheap, easy improvements to give me something to do while I save money.

No, I'm running a Big16G from RRE

That list from above is basically my entire mod list, plus the turbo and suspension parts. That guy had me pegged perfectly. I have plans for a motor and head build up, but I just want to do some little stuff while the car is put away in storage this winter.

Build the engine, big turbo, supporting mods.

Doing little things like ort and polish ect are just aspects of engine build/machine work. My recommendation is not to try and squeeze out little bits of power here and there. Start saving for the engine build and tune, tune, tune. Tuning sqeezes every bit of power.

Also, your mod list has most of the supporting mods you'll need. Bigger turbo, injectors, fuel supply etc is the next step after the engine build (or before if you wanna run big boost til it blows, which is fine. I did it. I knew I would have to rebuild my engine so I upgraded everything outside of it and then once the engine went, it was time to go for internals).

It's running again shitheads.

SCM50/GT32e are to very nice bolt on turbos for a 4g, there a very good pump gas turbo, im currently running the SCM50 which has the older style wheel, but is still pretty efficient, the new GT32 has the newer gt wheel and has a lil bit better spool and a little bit better top end

Prothane motor mounts didnt change the way my car idled at all, basically just got rid of what wheel hop i did have.

SMIM = Sheet Metal Intake Manifold

I had the motor mounts no my ESi, liked it for how it felt, but didn't like the way I could feel the idle throughout the entire car. I like how the car has a very smooth feeling idle now.

oh yeah, and AWD = No Wheel Hop.

Dylan, I bought a truck to drive around during the winter, tear up, and ruin the paint on. My clipse is too nice to ruin.

SCM 50 = 50 Trim turbo....but i would build the motor and go with a Holset HX-40 turbo. A Guy has seen 549awhp @ 20psi of boost. This turbo is = to a t-66. Go for broke imo....
