Thanks for all the replies!
First of all, the EVO 3 is a basic foot-in-the-door mod. Buy the turbo, build up around it, have some fun, see my 1/4mi times.
Now, even if I get a nice 12.9 at the track, I'll be pretty happy. Here's a game plan for my modding...
Apex'i N1 Cat-back Short shifter Body work
Parts Cache
EVO3 Turbo EVO3 o2 housing Downpipe and high-flow cat/test pipe Higher flowing exh manifold Injectors, pump, fuel controller Used 2G head Cams, springs, retainers Used 1G Intake Manifold BIG TB Dejon Tool Blow-thru setup with GM MAF and MAF-T Intake pipe for turbo (no stock MAF) Boost controller
The idea here, is to squeeze as many ponies out of my stock block without killing it. I can stock up on the head (to be ported out), the head components, the intake manifold and TB. Any parts that can work with my T-25, the blow-thru setup, the full exhaust from the turbo back, can go on as soon as I get it.
The thing I want to do, is take the head off my engine, dump the built/ported head on, with a bigger exhaust manifold, intake manifold, and throttle body, along with the new turbo and supporting mods.
The installs for the throttle body, fuel injectors, and what not, will be a breeze. And I'll have to redo my timing belt again, and also throw on a new head gasket, cuz 135K on a stock head gasket wont hold much boost.
Sound like a plan guys?
When I save up for the engine rebuild, tranny rebuild, LSD, thats where I might need the bigger turbo that may throw me down the 1/4mi faster.
Thanks again guys, Nick
P.S. The EVO III GT is a piece of crap. If it's not MADE in JAPAN, then I'm most likely NOT going to buy it. Thanks for the warning, I read the post on how much it sucks, and the comparision that slowboyracing or someone did between the 2 turbos.
