#48550, "Seriously. It's baby time. "

V's in the shower. I'm pounding caffeine since she can't have any until after the surgery. In three hours, I'll be in an operating room. In four hours, I'll he a father.

Today's the big day. It's like every European vacation, DSM Shootout, rally, Christmas, and birthday rolled into one. It's also just a little bit terrifying.

Wish me luck. Pictures/videos on Facebook when things settle down at the hospital later today.

Thanks for always being more than a car club, 2GNT.
Thanks for being family.

Here goes nothin'...

Good luck man!

You won't have much to do, and the tedium will drive you crazy. Just remember, be there for V, hold her hand, make sure she knows everything is going to be okay. Your life may be changing, but this is new and scary for her too.

I expect text messages!

This has been an incredible experience. Nothing can truly prepare you for it and nothing compares to it afterward. I am a wreck. Tired, sore, and tired. Will share pics here once I'm back in front of a computer.

Oh yeah. I've lost track of how many times I've said, "Oh, for fuck's sake..." in the middle of the night. It's rough.

Try early bedtime. We try putting P down at 7-8. She sleeps 3-4hrs, I feed at 11-12, then V grabs her at 4-5. Two days in, it seems to be working. Up to 400+mL/day now.

Can't wait til she sleeps through the night. #soon?

LMAO...yeah that sounds about right. Oh for crying out loud! Sleep through the night already!!! ARGHHHHHHH!

Sounds like you guys got a good schedule going. If she stays on track I'd say by 3 months she should be sleeping through the night with the occasional random middle of the night wake up. We were fortunate with both kids that they were sleeping through the night by the 3 month mark.

Once I'm confident nothing bad will happen when she sleeps, we'll start playing every parent's favorite bedtime game - Does This Smell Like Chloroform?

Haha. You can get lucky like me. My daughter has been sleeping through the night since 3-4 months (18mo now). She gets put down between 7 and 8 and typically sleeps till sometime between 6:30-7:30. When she first started basically sleeping through the night she was getting up around 5:30-6, eating and then sleeping for another hour.

The first month is brutal Brian...at least it was for our boys. I was not a good person to be around. After they started really gaining weight we mixed a little rice cereal (teaspoon in about 100ml) in their milk and that made the nights much better. Pretty much the last 6 to 9 months they sleep from 6:30/7 until about 6:30/7...11 to 12 hours. They really are the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I liked the teaspoon of Jack Daniels much better! (keep in mind that I come from the generation that was still allowed to rub alcohol on the kids gums for various maladies - and not get child services over the house)

Sleep or not, I just wish she'd get into a routine, ya know? Sometimes she sleeps for 5 hours, sometimes for 3. Sometimes, she spends those three hours screaming.

And then I read that, just when they start to sleep through the night, they start developing motor skills, which they practice in their sleep, waking themselves up.

And, after that, it's teething.

ZOMGZ.

Pass the Jack.
