No, when I was a teenager (many years ago) rice was used for Jap bikes (rice burners). The rice refered to actual, eat 'em up, rice that the Jap's ate. It was a derogatory term then and its a derogatory word now.
Hey, I did a little search and even on your generations encyclopedia (wikipedia) they refer to rice that way;
