I was just out washing my car and I noticed that my front left wheel is missing part of it's balancing weights. How important is it to have it rebalanced? I'm putting my car in storage on the 15'th so the car will only see another 500-800 miles until spring. Will it be fine for that long? I have a pretty busy schedule so I would rather wait until spring if I can. To my understanding all it could cause is some shaking at high speeds or some uneven tire wear but I already have both of those from different reasons so thats not a big deal to me.

well as long as you don't do any highway driving you should be fine. Your wheels should not be to badly out of balance to give you problems at lower speeds

Well. In this case with only one, it shouldn't matter at low speeds. I worked at a tire store. One day while bored we put on like 15grams onto this inside edges of the mechanics wheels. The next day he came in laughing saying he almost went off the road because of how bad the ride was.

How did you know it was missing a weight? They remove the old weights when they balance them. Like they said it will just cause a vibe at highway speeds.

Well, I amssuming the little square weights on my wheel are the "wheel weights". When I first got my rims each rim had a row of about 5 or so square metal things. I was outside the other day washing my car and noticed on the one rim there was only two of them. So unless I am retarded and those are not the wheel weights I am missing some.
I hope that was understandable but I am having a hell of a time putting words together right now.

I had a couple of those small weights fall off my passenger side wheel one day while I was cleaning them. They have a sticky backing, but it apparently wasn't sticky enough and washed away. I haven't noticed a difference at highway speeds whatsoever.

Those are stick on weights. Used on sides of wheels that don't accept hammer on weights.
The adhesive backing on those things are super strong, they only come off when the tire tech doesn't clean the spot on the wheel good before he puts them on. If he puts them on right, the foam will tear before the sticky part peels off.
How many times have you had your wheels balanced? If it's more than once, then they may just have not cleaned off the residue from the old weights.

Funny thing is the wheels were BRAND NEW never been mounted when they put those sticky weights on.

The tire tech may not have put it exactly on the right spot the first time when he spun the wheel, he could have touch the sticky part of the weight, or he may not have pressed down hard enough to "activate" the weight..
..For instance, I know 3M makes automotive moulding adhesives that require 18 lbs of pressure for them to bond, but once they do, if prepped properly would hold your car together, and if you don't press it down that hard, it will just peel off.
If it was a repitable shop my guess is gonna be he just didn't get it in the right spot the first time.
