#11818, "$356.64 to install camber kits and aligment HA!"

I went to this one place called GateWay Tire...I heard they were like one of the few places that will mess with a lowered car. So I hand them my ingalls front/rear camber kits and ask em how much to get them installed and get an alignment...and they said $356.64 I LAUGHED then walked out...I think Im jus going to install them myself then go up there and tell them to give me an alignment which is $49.99...when they do the alignment they will adjust the camber right? Does adjusting camber included in getting an alignment?

Yeah, Just put them in yourself. They really aren't that hard to do. Then you can just take it in and get an alignment. They should fine tune everything from there. $49.99 is actually a pretty good deal. Most of the places around here ask any where between 69.99-89.99 for a 4 wheel alignment.

Go to Sears. My local Sears said they would do the front and rear camber kits for $30.00 per corner. So $120.00 plus $54.95 for a 4 wheel alignment. $180 is a lot better than $356. I'm sure you can put them on yourself, but they will still have to adjust the kits to get the desired camber, and they will definitely charge more than a regular 4-wheel alignment.

Yeah, I went to a local alignment shop to get my car aligned after I put the suspension and wheels on it.

They call me like an hour later and tell me my camber is bad. I said, yeah, so, fix it.

They say it'll cost 654 dollars for everything.

I left, took the quote, and used it as toilet paper.

actually they may charge you more if you have adjustable camber. Cuz that's more work etc.. etc.. like if you didn't they would only have to adjust the toe. Adjusting the camber is kinda difficult also. Well fine tuning it anyway.

hahaha. thats funny. the same thing happened to me at a local shop. they wanted 464 dollars for a 'ball joint' alignment. my '98 hardly gets driven (25k miles on it) and has had brand new ball joints installed a little while ago. they wanted to order new ones and change a whole bucnh of stuff... they must screw people left and right at that place...

so i went and got an alignment for 50 bucks and they said everything looked just fine... perfect!

Hey Marcus, unfortunately, I couldn't find any place that did that 100 dollar lifetime thing here in OC. But 100 dollars is actually for two alignments though. One was 60 something, other 40 something. The 60 dollar one was the first time, when I only had the rears. The 40 dollar one was just for the fronts after I got the front camber kit. My camber is still a little off according to the printout, but my tires are ok, as no irregular wear is noticed. I just rotate them every 3K miles. I've had the tires with being lowered I think for 4-5 months already. Goodyear just checked my tires recently with those infrared thingies, and I have 8/32nds left. (dunno what that means, but they said it was still in ok condition.)
