He says "By adding a boost controller" and some other shit you can have 400hp... how do you implement a BC with a supercharger?

Is he even selling the Supercharger itself? The action states: "ONLY the plates and instructions are included in this auction." and "This auction is for 3 plates that bolt to the lower half of the intake manifold that adapt to the supercharger."

thomas knight turbo used to have a similar setup for sale
he used 2 idlers pulley and a longer belt
one pulley was on a small bracket with a swivel mount to act as a tensionner and the second one was put on the lower bolt of the alternator bracket to act as a guide

I'm sorry, but Mythbusters said that neither of those will work... Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger with the bad news. True, this guy DOES show it mounted to the lower half of our manifold. BUT... it does appear to be anywhere from an inch to two inches too tall to clear the hood (hell, my strut tower brace touches the hood blanket, and that's barely taller than the manifold), AND... there is no belt on it.

Supercharging our cars would yield a neglible gain, something like 20-40 hp. Remember how these things work they drain power from your accessories so its taking more power to make more power.....

I disagree... where do you think a turbo gets the energy needed to compress the intake charge? You have to get the energy from somewhere.

Yes a 1.8 can be supercharged and I WOULD do it. That little 1.8 needs the torque. Either way, its a "net" gain in the end.

that kit on ebay for the supercharger plates will clear the hood according to the seller. there's a question toward the bottom of the auction asking, and he says it sits roughly an inch lower than the stock manifold.

Anything TK Turbo or Thomas Knight Turbo makes is pure junk IMO. I helped my friend install a "supercharger kit" for a 3000GT made by this guy. It was a half-assed attemp utilizing a piss poor custom welded supercharger/manifold (which had holes and had to be welded closed). In addition the so called "idler pullies" were the same pullies that lawn mowers use on their belt driven systems. It didn't take me long to tell my friend it was garbage. This was after he insisted on cutting the subframe of the hood to get it to close. Being as the bearings werent sealed it was only a matter of time before they began to seize and made a horrendous noise while the car was running. Once we had the car running we saw 1psi of boost vs the advertised 8. I'd be very weary of purchasing anything, especially templates for $500. I'm sure you'd see alot better gains from a nitrous kit.

Hmm well I suppose you could fabricate an idler pulley. My MR2 runs off of the same belt that powers the water pump I think. I don't think you'd want instant boost on a FWD anyway think of the wheel spin. Then you gotta change the pulleys to get more boost, you gotta actually over drive it to get more boost. I'll stick with a turbo. I guess superchargers are less maintenance though 180k miles on our supercharger and still blowin just need to add some supercharger oil in there every 60k miles.

oh yeah I also notice that you can't use an intercooler with that setup. That's not very nice. Even my MR2 has an intercooler.
