Finally...

And a real picture of a real lower intake mani too.

He says "By adding a boost controller" and some other shit you can have 400hp... how do you implement a BC with a supercharger? :nuts

if you look at the SC he recomends there is a bypass valve to direct the air either to the rotors or just into the intake... so a boost controler would work the same way it does on a turbo...

What SC will fit that adapter?
I need more n4 that sounds like a winner to me!

I do believe, if you read the listing, it's the same one as used on the 3800 series Bonneville SSEi.

GOod find, Deej. That's pretty interesting. Still not a miracle of science, but certainly a good picture of everything mounted on an engine. :thumbsup

wouldnt that have clearence issues with the hood cuz it looks like it will sit higher than the stock intake manifold

Is he even selling the Supercharger itself? The action states: "ONLY the plates and instructions are included in this auction." and "This auction is for 3 plates that bolt to the lower half of the intake manifold that adapt to the supercharger."

Edit: Nevermind, I read it a few more times and got it. It's just for the plates.

hahah...pwnage.

I'd be less worried about hood clearance and more worried about how the SC is gonna run off the alternator pulley.

Maybe you install one of those electric water pumps for the big V8s that you could wire to a switch. It would be like boost all the time... even at idle!

In all seriousness, there was a guy on Team-2tard that was running a SC set up on his car. He said that he installed some other pulley on the alternator that carried two belts. Then he mounted an idler pulley on the alternator bracket and ran a larger belt (from a F150 or something) from the alternator, past the idler, and to the charger.

I bet it really pisses the alternator off.

thomas knight turbo used to have a similar setup for sale
he used 2 idlers pulley and a longer belt
one pulley was on a small bracket with a swivel mount to act as a tensionner and the second one was put on the lower bolt of the alternator bracket to act as a guide

nothing really new here

Thomas got a new one out now it runs off the altenator it looks stable to me and far more simple to install I think I may try it should $1600.00 fall out the sky :)

Better yet! You could hook the pulley up to this giant wheel which would have eight propane tanks welded to it...

:order

I'm sorry, but Mythbusters said that neither of those will work... Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger with the bad news.

True, this guy DOES show it mounted to the lower half of our manifold. BUT... it does appear to be anywhere from an inch to two inches too tall to clear the hood (hell, my strut tower brace touches the hood blanket, and that's barely taller than the manifold), AND... there is no belt on it.

What you doing here??? I thought you were gonna point me in the direction of the shop or school that was gonna hook me up with 180hp to the ground?

What happen they go outa biz?

And did you pass the class's you were studing for?

Haha, Team-2tard. That's about what it has become. Just hadd someone ask about a flamethrower. :bash

Anyhow, I talked to the guy you are talking about on AIM, and he seemed to have a legit setup. I wish he wasn't flamed out of Team-2g before someone could go look at his setup. He sold it though, and that is the last I heard of him.

I am half tempted to try and machine a flange to fit that SC, to do away with the clearence issue. I don't know. I'll take some measurements and draw a little on autoCAD.

Supercharging our cars would yield a neglible gain, something like 20-40 hp. Remember how these things work they drain power from your accessories so its taking more power to make more power.....

Think SC Honda 1.8L engines... :thumbsdown

I disagree... where do you think a turbo gets the energy needed to compress the intake charge? You have to get the energy from somewhere.
99307, RE: SupaCharga
Posted by Chamuko, Jun-13-06 01:03 PM
exactly. Theres no such thing as "free" power.
Yes a 1.8 can be supercharged and I WOULD do it. That little 1.8 needs the torque. Either way, its a "net" gain in the end.

Someone on Team-2g is claiming to have SC'd his 420a, and have it running decent. Says he's 75% through with the project, and I am sort of believing him. Check it out...

that kit on ebay for the supercharger plates will clear the hood according to the seller. there's a question toward the bottom of the auction asking, and he says it sits roughly an inch lower than the stock manifold.
99397, RE: SupaCharga

Anything TK Turbo or Thomas Knight Turbo makes is pure junk IMO. I helped my friend install a "supercharger kit" for a 3000GT made by this guy. It was a half-assed attemp utilizing a piss poor custom welded supercharger/manifold (which had holes and had to be welded closed). In addition the so called "idler pullies" were the same pullies that lawn mowers use on their belt driven systems. It didn't take me long to tell my friend it was garbage. This was after he insisted on cutting the subframe of the hood to get it to close. Being as the bearings werent sealed it was only a matter of time before they began to seize and made a horrendous noise while the car was running. Once we had the car running we saw 1psi of boost vs the advertised 8. I'd be very weary of purchasing anything, especially templates for $500. I'm sure you'd see alot better gains from a nitrous kit.

Hmm well I suppose you could fabricate an idler pulley. My MR2 runs off of the same belt that powers the water pump I think. I don't think you'd want instant boost on a FWD anyway think of the wheel spin. Then you gotta change the pulleys to get more boost, you gotta actually over drive it to get more boost. I'll stick with a turbo. I guess superchargers are less maintenance though 180k miles on our supercharger and still blowin just need to add some supercharger oil in there every 60k miles.

oh yeah I also notice that you can't use an intercooler with that setup. That's not very nice. Even my MR2 has an intercooler.
