Unless an EGR is leaking, it is impossible for it to reduce power. And if it was leaking, especially at idle, you'd know. The EGR only opens at light cruise/light throttle applications, and thats it. Never at idle, never at WOT and never when the engine isnt fully warmed up. If your cat is doing its job, what basically leaves your tail pipe? Co2 and H20, right? The main ingredients of your everyday household fire extinguisher. By recirculating small, metered amounts of gas, you extinguish some of the flame in the combustion chamber. The EGR effectively reduces peak flame front temps below 2000 degrees, which in turns lowers NOX emissions and also reduces the chances of any detonation. 91 awd: 60-1, 880's, E-Prom, etc. 93 awd: JDM 6 bolt, K&N, full exhaust, Wally 255, otherwise stock.
