You might want to see if you can find one of those adjustable silencers that fit in the muffler tip. It's not permanent and can be adjusted for flow / sound. I take mine off at the track and leave it on with the opening half way when normally driving. That made more of a difference than my resonator.

I had my GST muffler on there for ages, I would take off for autox events etc etc. It finally just pooped out on me. . Cloged beyond belief. You could barley hear the car when it was running with that sucker on, adn I have 3" all the way back from the cat(no resonators). Now I'm running a 40$ schucks muffler. Sounds quiet, and way outflows that stupid gst muffler. I think its called a afterburner.
