what are the signs for these? I had someone look at my car today and he told me the tapping noise I am having could be a collapsed lifter, I did some searching on here and it seems like a spun bearing makes noise also???.... How would I tell them apart?

you can check for a spun rod by pulling the oil pan and taking off the rod caps. if they look fine, then pull the valve cover and check around. i have some lifters sitting around if you want to swap some out.

haha, i've gotta pull my valve cover this week and see if i have any collapsed ones (just try to depress them to check? move side to side to see if there is any play?)

They all seem solid, but I swear that when I start my car up it sounds like something is about to punch through the valve cover.

you have to pull the engine, and take out the crank, then bring the crank to a machine shop, and hopfully it isnt too bad to where they cant fix it. then get oversized bearings. and call it a day.
