what are the signs for these?
I had someone look at my car today and he told me the tapping noise I am having could be a collapsed lifter, I did some searching on here and it seems like a spun bearing makes noise also???....
How would I tell them apart?

you can check for a spun rod by pulling the oil pan and taking off the rod caps. if they look fine, then pull the valve cover and check around. i have some lifters sitting around if you want to swap some out.

haha, i've gotta pull my valve cover this week and see if i have any collapsed ones (just try to depress them to check? move side to side to see if there is any play?)

They all seem solid, but I swear that when I start my car up it sounds like something is about to punch through the valve cover.

What is invovled in fixing a spun bearing?

you have to pull the engine, and take out the crank, then bring the crank to a machine shop, and hopfully it isnt too bad to where they cant fix it. then get oversized bearings. and call it a day.
